My fitness journey

Hello everyone!

My fitness journey did not begin like most peoples does, it didn't start in a fancy gym with a personal trainer, in fact it started in the basement of my garage with a towel as a mat and some country radio. I can remember the day I made the decision, I was sitting in my kitchen, lost in my mind, I knew i needed a change in my life, i had seen so many posts and pictures of women and their progress since they had started eating healthy and working out regularly. i admired their results and wanted the same for myself. that night i made a plan, i was going to stick to this no matter what it took. i started out slow, cutting artificial flavors and colors out of my diet and training about 3 times per week, it was a rough beginning i had many days and even weeks without any motivation, discouraged that there was no one by my side to help and encourage me but one quote stuck in my mind "consistency is the key"...truer words were never spoken! the summer and through the winter of 2013 i learned more and more about health and fitness, learning more exercises and what certain foods do to your body. come spring my family (of 11) was doing a trial session at the YMCA to see if we were able to get a scholarship for a discount on a membership. for the 2 free weeks we had, i spent everyday in the gym learning more and more everyday. one day as i was in the gym i noticed a trainer who was with a client, she was full of energy and gave the whole environment a welcoming feeling. i walked over to her and told her how much she motivated me and about the scholarship we were applying for. the next day she walked over to me and broke the news that the man she had been training the previous day was so touched that i had taken the time to come and talk with her that he payed for our membership, me and my family could not have been more thrilled...and that's were it all began.

more to come!

Esther

Hi Esther,
Your story has given me the inspiration I need to keep moving forward with my weight loss goal. I have started the Nutrisystem weight loss plan a few days ago because over the last 2 years, I have put on 20 pounds--going from my ideal weight of 150 to 170. I am not a believer in constantly weighing myself on a scale, but I knew something was wrong when my pants are a lot tighter than usual and my belly has seemed to have gotten bigger. I also am not feeling as energetic as I used to be before the weight gain.

Now that I have made the investment in buying the foods that Nutrisystem plan supplies, I am committed to eating healthier by drinking more water and eating more leafy vegetables and watching my meal size portions.
Good luck to you on your fitness journey, and thanks for sharing your story.
