Love-Hate Relationship

At dinner, they all laughed when I said, “I hate it so much I love it.” But, when I told them about what I meant, they looked at me with a mixture of misunderstanding and knowledge.
This response I knew to be an affirmation of what I just told them. For, at one time or another, they too had the same experience, as I know that you too had.
What is this experience? Let me tell you.
As I was tweaking the contents of my website yesterday, things got a bit tough with Word Press. And, it was the website that got the torrent of four-letter words. Actually, it was my “newbieness” (I think I just coined a new word. It’s not in the dictionary, according to Webster. It means the – “the articulated fact of being a newbie, or tyro.” It’s an adjective. I feel it’s awkward to say “my being a newbie.”) that’s to blame. But, the torrent came out anyway.
So, you begin to hate your website for its “inability” to quickly adapt to the nuances of WP. Still, you love it so much you kept on coaxing it to “cooperate with me please.”
Is it possible to hate something while doing everything that you could possibly do to “keep it alive” because you love it so much?

This is where the issue gets a bit sticky. Some would say –“those two emotions can’t go together.” Maybe it’s – “love-anger”, or “love – frustration.” Perhaps. But, a lot of people would still argue the point. How could anyone be angry with someone or something they love so much? Or, even be frustrated?
The question remains – cannot love and hate go together in a man’s heart? Here’s a quote from Poet Khalil Gibran (1883-1931), from his work “The Wanderer” – (1931 – posthumous; Creative Commons: Wiki; Public Domain).
‘A woman said unto a man, “I love you.”
And the man said, “It is in my heart to be worthy of your love.”
And, the woman said, “You love me not?”
And the man only gazed upon her and said nothing.
Then, the woman cried aloud, “I hate you.”
And the man said, “Then, it is also in my heart to be worthy of your hate.”’
You decide.
