Many people tend to struggle through every aspect of their daily life. There are quite a number of reasons behind such occurrence.

Some it is just in them that they expect someone from somewhere to take the responsibility to find solutions to their challenges.

Some have got just this notion that nature has decided their fate while others do not believe in home grown solutions to challenges.

Some are trying to find solutions but are hampered by unfavourable external conditions like lack of knowledge, finances, technology backwardness and many others.

Some have eyes but are unable to scan their environment to realize that solutions lie within the community they live in.

HERE ARE SOME OF THE HOME GROWN SOLUTIONS TO THE MANY CHALLENGES PEOPLE FACE EVERYDAY.

1. Using of local raw materials for use in various activities of the community.

a) Local timber can be acquired cheaply to make home furniture like beds, stools, plunks and other products.

b) The grass that grows naturally can be harvested and used in handcraft products that can be used for decoration purposes and the surplus sold to other localities and even tourists.

c) Moulding of bricks using anthill clay will produce good quality burnt bricks that could be used to build schools, houses, clinics and other useful infrastructure.

2. Combined efforts is a sure way of achieving milestone tasks. A community that works together will not suffer consequences of hunger since they prepare for any challenge well in advance.

a) They are able to build water reservoirs that are able to store water to be used in times of scarce by both the people through gardening and by their domesticated animals.

b) People will be able to process and add value to their local produce which will ensure food security all year round.

c) The community will form cooperatives that will solidify their bargaining power. This will open doors to larger markets like supermarkets, schools and even hospitals.
