Hello all, I have an existing site I created 4 years ago and submitted it to Google under my subdomain (abcde.xxxxx.com) . SEO seems to be working, and I am getting 30-40 visit

When change to another domain, it won't be promising on the traffic will follow the switch to new domain. You may try update from social networks, then try switch but might take long, google analytics, bing webmaster tools. If you do it, you must change it quick though, because a long seo friendly list counting on your switch. Pinterest twitter google plus, etc...

Thank you - that's true, the traffic is not promising. I will put a little thoughts and research before I switch over. Thank you for your input :)

You're welcome.

If I understand correctly you really need to be careful switching but here is a link that might help you and I am sure WA has some training on it also but I have not seen it yet. https://www.hallaminternet.com/2013/switch-domains-losing-traffic/ or try this site -- http://www.webseoanalytics.com/blog/seo-guide-how-to-change-your-domain-name-without-losing-your-rankings/
I have not had to use either but the second link has some great information.

Thank you for the good link. It helps to understand - I started this site and SEO without knowing much - this is the thing that you start with subdomain (free) and later, thought it would be easy to change, but in reality, I left it too long. It can be done, but need a little careful handling. It's all learning :D Thanks!

Hello - i am a little slow on keeping up on my development, so I may not have reached to the point in the lesson, but let me know why it is important to write a blog here in WA?

You don't need to write a blog on here if you don't want to =). people do it for a number of reasons varying from having something to share, wanting to discuss issues, bragging about success, letting people know about training, asking for motivation etc etc.

Some also do it to ask for advice/feedback on their websites though there are other parts of the site where you can post your site for feedback. the blogs are just a way for you to communicate with other people on WA. I think my first one was talking about how hard of a time i was having finding a niche.

Thank you Autumn. I was just wondering if the blog is something to do with a plug in to own website because everyone's blog is very active! Now I understand that it is a record of your thoughts and progress, which other member can comment for help, suggestion, motivation, etc. I also having a hard time to find a niche - I have too many ideas...! But I decided not to rush, so I can find something I am satisfied.

Yeah if you go to any members profile you can click on the area on the right under their picture that says blog or on the top that says blog and it will take you to a list of everything they have blogged about. And honestly choosing a niche was the hardest thing for me, but the whole process gets easier with practice so i finally just chose something and ran with it.

granted i ended up changing it but i spent lots of wasted time just trying to pick an idea when i should have been spending it learning new stuff.

That's true - I wish I can just pick whatever - I am sometimes indecisive in nature. But I am narrowing down for final selection very soon. Thank you again!

Hello, I am new to WA. I am trying to test out this community and service. I have an inactive website www.losew8getfit.com. I set up this website and SEO in Google for a few

Hosting here at WA is very straight forward and as a premium member you will get some of the best support available and the security of regular easily retrievable backups.

If you site already is getting a reasonable amount of traffic, I would suggest you keep the name, transfer it to WA for hosting and focus on building content.

There are Niches everywhere and affiliates to suit, you can promote WA on any site no matter what the niche.

If you really want a new name I suggest you try using Jaxxy to search possible name options relevant to your chosen niche.

Hope that helps.

Darren

I followed the tutorials Course one on transferring DNS to hosting. ns1. and 2 wahosting.com. You can create a Domain name in Manager Website with your exact domain name, just make sure it's a purchased domain, so you can also build your website here at Wealthy Affiliate. I only tried namecheap.com domain name. I can help you on domain names soon.

Thank you for the info. on how to transferring the website. Yes, it's a purchased domain, so I know I can transfer. Before I transfer this existing website (domain name), I am trying to make a decision if i continue to use this name for my niche website. Because selecting a good domain name is important (as I understand), the one I have may not worth to use it, it may be too generic - i wanted to have some opinion before putting my effort...

One opinion to losew8getfit, I liked the "w8", because reminds of the word great or "gr8" One name is always comes through passion, and sometimes the passion is absolute, should get into this word or two right away. Also, the sound of it matters. What you want to hear sometimes looking at the letters, you like what they sound. It can be "get fit and lose weight" , "lose weight strategic formulas" , "get fit by exercise" list goes on...

Thank you for your input!!! I started understanding how domain name and the search word relates. It's a learning process. I will keep this and re-make my site on WA. :) Thank you again!

You're welcome :)
