Getting back into it

I fell into a trap. Early in the year when I found WA, I set large goals for myself and had some high expectations for my website. I set down and made a map for myself detailing how exactly I was going to accomplish these goals. Then the semester came, and all of my time and focus was redirected to school.

Here's the trap: if I can't spend 100% of my energy on something, I tend to neglect the hell out of it. This tendency sets me up for failure sometimes, but I'm working on my ability to multitask and focus on the end goal. Take this moment for example: I have a huge stats exam this Thursday. Instead of nervously poking around WA while secretly using my mental bandwidth to think about what/when/how I need to study, I focused on the task at hand and finished the 4th course in the online certification.

I'm finally getting back into the Wealthy Affiliate community and I'm excited to continue learning and growing from this wealth of knowledge.

That is something I also struggle with. It's all or nothing.

I'm working on finding ways to take care of everything in my life and not neglect some things.

It's a difficult issue! I feel that a lot of us in this community are very ambitious and we divide our energy into a multitude of different areas.

I'd love to hear some of your tips and strategies that you've come up with!

Erik W.

Let's be clear that I am a newbie still, having only started on January 1st of this year.

2nd, I am married and have a son in college, but is still living at home and my daughter is 16 and a junior high school. I am a civil engineer and at times my job is extremely demanding.....like right now.

I am still working on this but here are the few things I do.

1. Take care of my family.
2. Take care of my wife's list of things to do, and it is large as we are in the middle of a home remodel.
3. I make sure I get my work projects completed, even if that means working the weekend, which I am doing right now.
4. I respond to all WA questions or members following me and I at least look at each blog to see if I need to read it or put it in my favorites to read later.
5. I do my major WA responses in the morning and evening.
6. I do some training and research for posts every day even if I know it will be a week before I am going to publish my post.
7. I make sure I always have healthy food around the house or at the office to help me lose weight and get off this stupid blood pressure medicine.
8. Lastly, I make sure I get my workouts in every morning before I do anything because life always gets in the way later in the day.

Trust me, I so badly want to move quickly on the WA training and my content but I have to pace myself but as you can see from the above list, time management is a must.

I hope this helps.

Now I'm going to go the gym and get some quick interval training in, just 20 minutes of intense intervals on the treadmill, then back home to work some more, have dinner, work some more and check in here at WA, then go to sleep.

This does sound intense but I want to eventually be successful so I will pace myself and do what I need to do to make it all happen, which also means taking a break from WA for short periods of time.

Rick

Have to learn to moderate that energy!

It can take time to create those routines, Erik, looks like you are getting sorted. Best wishes with the stats exam, having that focus will get you there.

Thanks! I'll need it!
