Treat Your Website Like a Digital Asset, Not a Hobby

A lot of people arrive at WA with the mentality of "I'll try it out for a month, if the money doesn't start raining down, they walk away." And if you're just dipping your toes into affiliate marketing out of curiosity, there's nothing wrong with that.

It sounds like me trying out golf. I'd probably go once or twice, enjoy it, but realize it's kinda pricey, and then not even think about it for months after that.

That's how we approach a hobby, and it's easily the fastest way to fail if you're looking at something like more of a business. I'm not going to master my golf swing if I spend 2 hours at the range over the course of a month while pounding Dos XX.

If your website is really something more serious to you and you're not lying when you say "I'd love for my website to replace my income", then you have to change your outlook to a more professional perspective.

When someone builds a physical business they don’t expect a massive profit on day one. They spend months investing in inventory and branding before they even open the doors. The problem is that because the "entry fee" for an online business is so low, people treat it like it’s disposable and they go right into that hobby mode of thinking only diving into it when they have a spare twenty minutes.

But a hobby is the first thing you drop after a rough day. An actual asset is something you show up for without fail because you understand its value.

And your audience can smell a "hobby site" from a mile away. So build it with a clear strategy and a voice behind it that people actually trust because they can tell it's a real human.

When you sit down at your laptop today, stop asking yourself if your work you put in today is going to make you ten dollars. Instead, ask yourself how much you increased the total value of your asset with today's contribution.

Every post you publish is like laying another brick in a building. Eventually, that building is going to be tall enough for all the world to see, but only if you don't stop stacking the bricks.
