So far so good in Learning How to Create an Online Business with Wealthy Affiliate
Well, I've finally made it to the end of Course 2 within the Certification Course. It's taken me a long while, and longer than I had hoped. My website is also smaller and has less content on it than I would have liked, considering I started with Wealthy Affiliate almost 6 months ago.
I came here to learn how to create an online business and a successful one at that, and I do really believe I'm heading that way, but just a lot slower than I had envisioned. It's true - the more work you put in, the more you get out of your website - in terms of visitors and eventually conversions. I have only managed to put a little work in, so my site continues to remain relatively quiet with low traffic numbers, but I know it will come in time, and I have set myself some new goals and targets to reach toward over the next few months.
A few things I have learnt over the last few months:
- Jay's live trainings are awesome, however, I need to focus more on the actual Certification training, and writing and publishing more content. I've learnt so much from Jay's various live show's, however, they have proven to be so distracting, side-tracking, and give me way too many new niche website ideas, that I get overwhelmed and start floundering around for a few days. I must limit myself to only watching the live training now and then, and when I do, not get carried away with all that I'm learning. I found I had started skipping steps in the Certification Course, which was causing me some unneeded frustration. Magistudio's live trainings will be better for me, later on, after I've completed the majority of the training.
- I spend and waste too much time on the Activity Dashboard - when I should be spending more time writing my content. As I only have a very limited time each day to complete any work uninterrupted, and I typically warm up by reading a few blog posts in the Activity Dashboard, but this typically leads to too much time wasted here and me following chatter in Live Chat. Again - I have been learning a lot - from others questions and answers - but at the expense of my own website.
- I need an easy plan for each day/period that I have, to work on my website. My current plan consists of writing 300 words day - as per Chris Lee's great article: Are You Having Trouble Creating Content? Here's My Best Tip, then checking my website for any issues or new comments, followed by checking into the WA Activity Dashboard.
- Early on, I developed a keyword hunting addiction, which had to end quickly. Can't spend all my day on Jaaxy - even though it's super fun. However, I am very glad I made the additional investment for Jaaxy Pro - it's helped me enormously.
- And one of the main things I've learned is not to spend too long on any one lesson. I dilly-dallied on choosing a niche - maybe not so bad, but then also did the same on deciding on a domain name. In hindsight, I should of set a time limit to my dilly-dallying; maybe 2 days, and not 2 weeks :/
- And recently, I am finding the new SiteContent platform within WA amazing at helping create and developing new content and allowing me to set writing goals and watch my progress. My goals for the next few months include:
- Writing 300 words of content at least per day.
- Writing two main articles and one short post per week for my website ~ 2800 words per week.
- Publishing one main article and one short post every week.
Here's to a more productive 3 months, Cheers!

Glad you are doing good Erica.
You next move is to socialize. I suggest you to create an account at as much as social media you can. Of course you cannot manage and engage to all of them but you can set more of them to auto-pilot.
Personal I full engage to instagram and also give some time to twitter. At all the rest social media, I have set auto-publish of all new posts. This action will help my site to get highest rank at the search engines plus in time new users/customers.
S.E.O is very important, there are tools and strategies to sky-rocket your website.
Hope that helps.
cheers, Stergios.
Hi Stergios - thank you for your comment and feedback:) I've been busy getting into Google + and now FB. What plugin do you use to auto-publish your new posts? I have to have a look at Instagram but don't think I'll have the consistent time for twitter, unfortunately.
Thanks,
Erica
