For the first time, I learned how to change the DNS for my wordpress site so that it can transfer to Wealthy Affiliate. Not sure if I did it all correctly, but small victories
Hi Emily - well done.
Just be careful when amending DNS records. You can break your site pretty easily (confuse the postman, not demolish the house) - but the main records are for your nameservers. If they are pointing correctly, then you'll see your website - if not, you won't.
It should be easily resolved, but many people don't realise that internet servers around the world, won't automatically update straight away. It could take up to a couple of days before they all point to your new hosting.
All the best, Mark

Do I need to make another purchase through GoDaddy or 1and1 or Namecheap if I have already purchased the domain name through Wordpress? I just don't want to spend extra money i
Once you change the DNS to WA go to your website and hosting tab click on the tab at the top that says domains and copy your website name from the place of purchase then paste it in the field for create domain then go to the website tab to create your site.
If you own the domain you just need to get it pointed to here. Kyle reviews that in the training here: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/building-your-own-traffic-producing-website/your-own-domain-your-brand-traffic
He uses Namecheap in the video, but I am sure the process would be similar to Wordpress.
This wordpress geekette has a question that has been posted in domain names!

Kyle,
I apologize for this dumb question, but here it goes: Is upgrading my site name from wordpress dot com to just the name sparktastic sensation the same as purchasing
The only time you will need to pay for a domain is if you actually want to purchase the dotcom name. If you just want to change the name of your site from for example "The Right Place" to "The Wrong Place" you will keep your existing domain name. Now, if you want to own "thewrongplace.com" then you will have to register/pay for it through Go Daddy.

I am a teacher and I am transitioning towards working exclusively online in affiliate marketing in order to help generation X and Millennial professionals save money, preserve t
Hi Emily. There are lots of us who are teachers here, but as Michelle has explained you are not allowed to promote anything to other members. :) Beverley
I wasn't trying to promote anything. I was just wondering if there were any teachers on here who were trying to transition out of their field and exclusively go into affiliate marketing.
I have been a teacher, among other things. I taught at a private school, where a teaching certificate was not required. Over the past year I've had a lot of pressure from friends and family to get the certificate, but I'm not sure I want to teach, and I do know how much I enjoy writing for my websites.
I am a teacher I don't really like it. I enjoy marketing and home economics far more than standing in front of a black board and talking about sight words. Good luck with whatever path you choose! The plus of being a part of affiliate marketing is that you can always do it in addition to any job you hold.
my husband was a teacher for 10 years, he has tried some things online but with no success. he looks at his with me and will help me all he can. thats a good thing to do i know i wasn't very wise with my money growing up, i think that should be taught in HS also classes on credit and using credit cards so many college kids get into trouble with that from lack of knowledge on how it really works. good luck
It's a great field to get into and one that will be much in demand as we move forward. Are you going to set up a website for this? Just in case you didn't know, you can't promote a business here, but you can share your website for others to take a look at and help with any critiquing.
I'm not trying to promote anything. Just seeing if there are any other teachers around here.

Are there any current or former teachers here who want to transition to online entrepreneurship

Hi - I already own a couple of blogs and I actually have a website as well. Would it just be better to jump into Premium? I don't want to start a new blog. I just want to use
You can't go wrong with Premium, it is well worth it. You will have access to all of the exceptional training and so much more. Plus, free unlimited hosting for your sites.
Hi I also own a couple of websites and quite knowledgeable or so I thought. I went premium and have learned so much from the training as well as the support from the WA Community. Whichever, you decide I wish you the very best. Rich
Using the blogs here are optional. However, I would recommend that you still go through the training to build one simply because there are so many things that you may need to know sandwiched in between what you already know. I have websites too on another hosting and have had for years. However, I recently decided to go back to basics because so many things have changed on the web and in marketing. If you are serious about marketing then yes it will benefit you to go premium no matter where you place your blogs
Well in all honesty. You wont be able to really interact with the community until you go premium. Also there is much to learn in the utilities only found in premium. So to me yes it is worth the your while even if you have some experience.
The biggest benefit of Premium, from my point of view, is the member support and the access to tremendous training both video and in tutorials....Of course there is unlimited website hosting...
