Is there anybody out there? Fitness Niche
Anyways I have some questions and searching I'm having a hard time finding it. I want to ask someone in the fitness niche. My focus or niche is fitness and weight loss for latinas. I feel like there are alot of good blogs out there for fitness and weight loss but not enough in spanish.
I'd like to find a mentor of sorts. Sooo Is there anybody out there?

Well, I am not in the fitness niche, nor do I speak Spanish, so I certainly could not be a mentor ;). I am sure that you understand that fitness & weight loss is an extremely saturated market/very competitive niche. However, I think you're probably right that there are not nearly enough sites/blogs regarding fitness/weight loss that are targeted towards Spanish-speaking individuals... so I think this could be an excellent sub-niche. Obviously, you'll have to do some keyword research to get a look at your competition, but my gut feeling tells me that you've chosen wisely.
You know your target audience, and that's the first step. Monetizing should not be a problem at all, since there are many (MANY) weight loss affiliate programs, and I'm sure that a good number of them have products/systems that are translated into multiple languages, especially Spanish. Google AdSense definitely supports Spanish, so you'll be able to run AdSense (if you want). ClickBank definitely has a lot of weight loss related products, but I'm unsure how many have Spanish translations. There is one that I know of for sure - TruthAboutAbsdotcom is a very popular product on ClickBank and you can see the Spanish version at pierdagrasaabdominaldotcom (I am a free member at the moment, so I'm not allowed to post links - you'll need to change the dot to a . ) These are not my sites, folks... I'm only posting them to help emd8787, so please don't report me or try to get me in trouble for posting links as a free member. Just posting them as an example so she can look at them.
As a side note, just since you've put it out there that you're bi-lingual, an extra way to make money might be to offer translation services to other webmasters. There are already many translation services out there, but it's nice to use someone you know. If you network and develop relationships with the fine members here at WA, who knows? They may want to develop exact replicas of their sites in Spanish and you could help them do that... for a fee, of course ;).
Good luck with your site, and hopefully someone in the weight loss niche can offer you even more help than I.
hey there thanks for replying. I'll definitely check the sites recommended. I totally agree with you the fitness/weight loss is definitely saturated that's why I'm taking my angle and aiming at spanish speakers. The translating idea is awesometastic, its crossed my mind before but now its dropped the duffel bag and pitching a tent. Just not sure how I would market that on the site asides from networking. Any ideas? I was wondering which you would recommend working on first content or setting up adsense, clickbank and all that good stuff? this is where I'm stuck as of right now.
Work on your content first, and build affiliate relationships as you go. You can go back and edit your posts to work in commissionable products/programs later. Also, certain affiliate programs will not approve sites that are "under construction". That doesn't mean you have to have tons of content before you apply to affiliate programs, just that it shouldn't be "bare bones" either. With Google AdSense, you don't have to have too much content - just enough so that relevant ads can be delivered. The top four affiliate networks that I use are Commission Junction, Google Affiliate Network, ShareASale, and Amazon Associates. With those four, I have access to many different merchants and many different products that are related to my niche.
Because your niche is not just product-based, but information-based (diet and exercise programs/systems), you will have a wide variety of affiliate relationships you can develop. Besides the four I mentioned above, you can use ClickBank, etc. to offer informational products. It's been ages since I've applied to ClickBank, so I don't know if the rules have changed, but they didn't used to have any content/traffic requirements. You could apply at any time, even if you didn't have your own website. Many individual fitness systems have their own affiliate programs, some of which you sign up for individually and some which can be accessed through affiliate networks. For example, I'm sure you've heard of P90X. It does have an affiliate program, and there is a Spanish version. I'm not endorsing that particular system, I'm just throwing it out there as an example. I know that Team Beachbody has an entire fitness site, with all sorts of products and programs, tips, guides, a forum, etc. They have an affiliate program AND the entire site is also in Spanish. If you visit the site, you will see a button in the upper right hand corner to switch to Spanish. If you were an affiliate, you would obviously link your traffic directly to the Spanish version of the site. Again, I'm not endorsing this, just putting it out there as an example. I hate to have to keep saying that, but folks are REALLY touchy about promotion here, so I feel the need to reiterate that these are NOT my sites and I'm not promoting them, I'm just trying to give you examples and ideas to get your own wheels turning.
With all that said, I have a feeling that you will have no trouble at all writing great content. Your only challenge will be finding relevant products that are supported in Spanish. For example, let's say you write a post about using fitness balls. Within your post, you link to a good quality, reasonably-priced fitness ball on Amazon (or the whole category of fitness balls - you can link to pretty much whatever you want there). It's Amazon, and as you know, they have pretty much everything under the sun. So your visitor buys one of those fitness balls, but they also pick up some bulk diapers for the baby, their husband needs a new electric razor, a gift for their mother... you get the idea. You make commission off anything they buy, not just the specific product you linked to. Sounds great, buuuut.... I have looked and looked and haven't been able to figure out if Amazon is available in Spanish. They have a books section in Spanish, and Amazon-Spain is of course in Spanish, but I cannot tell if the whole regular Amazon site can be accessed in Spanish. So you will run into obstacles like that. But, being bilingual, you may be able to help your visitors navigate non-Spanish sites.
Okay, I better get to work on my own site ;). I've got posts that I've been putting off writing. You may not believe this, but I HATE writing. I do. It's the truth. I don't mind writing in this context, to help someone who has asked specific questions. But I find it difficult to write from the hip on a given topic. It's like I NEED someone to ask a question. Perhaps I should've started a Q and A site ;) Hindsight, ya know?
Oh, I almost forgot about the translation services. If I were you, I would have a separate site for that. You could have a small snippet on your fitness site linking to your translation site, of course. But I would market it entirely separately.
Perhaps someone else will come along (nudge, nudge, hint, hint) and be able to offer you more guided help. In the meantime, dig into all the great training, guides, tutorials, etc. here. They're refreshingly well-organized compared to my scatterbrained "help" ;)
