Good day Wealthy Affiliate! I need some advice in a desperate way. I began my website maybe 6-8 months ago and as unfortunate as it may be, I was not able to provide the time a

I really do still love the idea of the website that I have currently. It was the closest thing to a passion of mine that I could think of! "Home Improvement!" I'm sure I will think of more niche's for my future websites once I get this one back up and running and feel confident in what I am doing. To be honest with you, when I noticed that I had updates that I needed to take care of and that I "must" backup my database before hand, it scared me a little bit because not only is Wealthy Affiliate new to me, but so is the whole computers, icloud, software, technology stuff and I was hesitant to proceed! But, thank you everyone who jumped in there to help me with this dilemma and if I may be so kind as to ask, I go to "Site Manager" to do edits on my existing website, right? I published a template for my website the other day and apparently some of the wording was not right and I noticed this yesterday when I had realized that my content had been indexed in Google! That was so exciting to read! I can only imagine how thrilled I will be when I make my first sale!! Thanks again everyone for all your help!!

Hi your site manager, that's where all your domains hosted with WA are hosted.

Templates are within site content

Great, thanks a bunch AbieAJ!

I remembered that after someone else had mentioned it to me. I had to stop training a couple of months ago and actually had not made it past the second phase of training and ever since I returned I have bee a bit rusty on what I had already learned. So, I decided to give myself a refresher and go over the training from the very beginning, that way I don't make such simple mistakes such as this. I am taking college courses as well and sometimes it all blends together! But I want to thank you very much for all your help AbieAJ! May you be happy, healthy, and prosperous throughout life!

Hey Erica. I personally think that you should continue building and do updates.

Hi, Jessica got some valid points. It is all about how passionate you are about your chosen niche, because when the road gets tough and it will get tough, you would keep at it and do whatever it takes.

However if you're wanting back up site, you may do so using the AIO WP Migrations and Updraft plugins. UpdraftPlus is a premium and highly recommended.

Also, keep in mind that our site content is automatically backed up on a regular basis anyway even if you don't do anything. Doing additional backups is smart but not absolutely necessary right now. I would do the updates and not worry too much about it for now. You can get help with the backups over time. Don't let all that determine if you keep your site or start a new one though!

Thank You very much Swangirl! That is just what I needed to hear! You're a life saver.

It really depends where your interests lie. Is your site a topic you are still very interested in? If not then start fresh with something else. If you are still interested in the topic then I would keep your site and either fix it up now or let it sit and start another to keep up your enthusiasm. The only cost to keep your site is the annual domain fee. You can have multiple sites here at WA for the same price so there isn't really anything to lose by keeping your first site even if you don't work on it right now.

It is best to focus on one site when you are starting out but the most important thing is to have a niche you are very passionate about. If you just aren't that interested in your first site anymore than it is better to pick one that will hold your attention for years to come. It won't do you any good if you are not inspired to work on it.

On the other hand, you will have to do updates etc. on any site you have so starting a new one won't fix that problem.

Thanks for the input! That perspective really does help me make my decision and yes, I am still very much interested in my current website. The only reason why I feel like I am stuck is because of the updates that need to be done and I am worried that I won't back up my database correctly! Could you give me some insight on that as well?

Honestly I had issues with that too so I am not the best one to ask. I felt much better knowing that WA does backups (I think they are every day) of our content anyway!

I have been away from WA and my websites for quite a while so I need to get back up to speed on things here myself.

I am glad you have it figured out to stick with your current site!

Yep, I sure do! And Good Luck to you Swangirl, with your website and all of your future endeavors'.
