Time Management

How do we get it done?

Our priorities are work, health, and family. Our limits are time, energy, and finances. And our options are work, work, work.

I want to have the energy to get up nice and early, make sure I get a good hot shower and a good sturdy breakfast to get me through the day. I want to be able to train (keep fit and give my hobby time) once a day or at least 5 times a week - because I love it so much. But I also need to study, I want to work on my WA sites, and I have to dedicate some time to my relationship - which is pretty important.

So just how are people so organised, productive, time-efficient but at the same time, not stressed out or overwhelmed?

If you find out, let me know....

Haha, I'm serious. I have a few inklings such as creating tiny habits, settings aside small blocks of time, and then doing other things in between, and just being extra studious.I wish time management came more naturally to me.

They do say though, the busier you become, the more efficient you are at getting stuff done. Maybe I just need to buckle down. And stay buckled.

Ah, Time, you scoundrel....

G'day Elsie,
I enjoyed your article about time management and I am certainly no expert but I can offer this :-
I like the foundation for the start of the day, its great. I would suggest to lay out time frames like computer 1 hour on then a exercise break of 1/2 hour or drink/food as I find that I get a bit stale after 1 hour and a little break rejuvenates you and jogs the brain doing something entirely different before going back again.
Keep it all simple but fair on yourself yet not too soft.
Hope this helps a bit,
Best Regards
Bob

Thanks Bob, good points. Keeping up with good consistent breaks seems like a really important part to productivity.
Sorry for the late reply by the way.
Thanks for your thoughts Bob. :)

I truly think Elsie that if you organize your day, week etc. You should be able to plan to complete all the tasks you set yourself, even to the extent of saying "O.K. it's 11 a.m. I now have coffee" or a break of some sort. Speaking honestly, I make a coffee and take it to my desk to continue working, but the principle is sound.:-)

Have a look at my blog 'Organise for success: To give you an example, I have just had the whole morning away from my PC and knew exactly where I had to begin to start work once I got back.

You will really find your life much simpler once you organize everything.

Good luck,
Roger

Thanks Roger,
Definitely good advice. I'll read your blog for sure.

Yes, I try to keep a schedule, and I tend to do things like breakfast and coffee at my computer.

I do want a simpler life haha. Thanks again. :)

I don't have all the answers, but I have recently made a personal discovery about business and stress. I have found that I am not stressed when I am busy by choice. I have decided that I am going to be busy and productively doing something all the time, and so when things come up that I want to do that take up more of my time than I planned, that's okay, because I chose to be busy, so it fits in my plan. I don't know if that makes any sense, but I haven't been stressed at all, even though I have a full college course load, am learning two languages, working on WA, and have social obligations.

That's a great concept. Acceptance makes sense. Thanks for the input!
