I've published 7 pages but my site tells me there are 1,796! Is there an easy way of getting rid of all the blank pages that are showing in my Website Manager?

Why is my website telling i've published 1796 pages?
I've published 7 pages but my site tells me there are 1,796! Is there an easy way of getting rid of all the blank pages that are showing in my Website Manager?
Have you looked into the pages to see what they contain and where they may come from?
Are they duplicates of pages you have published or are they looking totally unfamiliar.
I have seen some free themes installing various pages and posts along with the theme install but 1700+ looks weird.
Are there any clues in the timestamps of the pages? Were they all made at the same time, or are they scattered out over a time period?
Did you use or install any plugin at a time that corresponds with the creation of the pages?

I recommend stop working on the site, until it is fixed.

Just have to try again after some time.

I accidentally put links to social media names (not icons) under a parent page and now I can't get rid of them.
You just have to edit the Parent settings in that sub-parent page. Change it to no parent.
The area to edit is at:
All page
Edit (the sub parent page)
On that screen, you should see the parent settings on the right.
