How to Write an INEFFECTUAL BLOG

Blogs are a dime a dozen nowadays. Anyone can start a blog. The tools and resources are readily available. Starting a blog and being consistent is no easy task. Since so many blogs with the same niche exist, it’s tough to stand out. There is no “one size fits all” approach when it comes to blogging. So, how is it that some blogs become successful and others don’t? It all comes down to the “do’s” and especially the “don’t’s”.

If you really want to fail at blogging, here are a few tips on how to make your blog as ineffectual as possible.

1. Design your blog as poorly as possible. Do not make it user-friendly. Make it complicated and hard to navigate. Stay away from choosing clean and simple layouts.

2. Plagiarize. Don’t think of great and original content. Simply go on another blog site and copy their publications. Word for word. (Steal their pictures too)

3. Post every day. Spam the internet with content overload. Don’t focus on promoting and sharing one or 2 weekly blogs to gain visibility. Let them know you’re present with constant posts. Think quantity over quality.

4. Don’t write about something you love. Choose a topic that you hate or have little to no knowledge of. Make sure that everyone who reads your blog knows how much you hate it too.

5. If you’re out of energy to post an article every day, don’t post at all. Be as inconsistent as you can manage. Post once every 3 months. Or twice a year. Whatever you do, do not make a reliable blogging schedule.

6. Proofread? No, don’t do that. Let your blog be full of errors, typos and poor use of vocabulary and grammar. Don’t look for online tools that can help you pinpoint errors or assist with SEO standards.

7. If you’re thinking about branding yourself and your blog, stop.

8. Write excessively long blog posts that everyone will find hard to read. Don’t blog about a topic in a clear and concise manner. Rant, ramble, babble. Don’t get to the point.

9. Just wing it. Avoid looking at courses, tutorials or webinars that specialize in improving blogging skills. Don’t try to learn more or seek professional advice and tips. Definitely don’t brainstorm the various ways in which you can monetize your blog.

10. Lastly, it’s best if you don’t connect with your audience. Keep your personality to yourself. Don’t write relatable content. Also, try to keep it negative. If it sounds too upbeat and empowering, delete it.

Here’s a bonus tip: Don’t attempt to connect your blog to social media platforms. If you don’t want to promote your blog and gain new readers and potential customers, say no to cross channel communication.

With these tips in mind, you have everything you need to create an INEFFECTUAL BLOG. As long as you focus on every “don’t” you can find, you can successfully fail at blogging and call it a day.

Oops! Did I say that...obviously, I know that none of us wants to purposefully be INEFFECTUAL. The real purpose of this blog is to encourage all of us to be thoughtful and careful with our blogging. After all, blogging is our business. It really is about quality rather than quantity. I'm thinking that if we are aware of things we need to avoid, we will be ahead of the game.

Happy and successful blogging to all, and to all a good night...uh, day!

I envision a character much like Scrooge hunched over a keypad pecking away and muttering 'bah humbug..." every now and again!

Thanks for the comments, LD. They say it takes fewer muscles to smile than to frown, so I am grateful that some saw some humor along with some helpful thoughts.

    Hi Earl,
A little touch of humor can be a powerful tool showing us paths of errors. I am actually guilty of one or two points and didn't realize it.

    Thanks for this helpful article.
