New to WA? Wait to join Amazon affiliate program

So, I joined WA back in March of this year and am still plugging away trying to get my blog off the ground. Admittedly, I've not had a lot of time to work on it but still I have written many posts.
In the part of the training when it was time to sign up for affiliate programs, I signed onto Amazon. I signed up for other programs as well but really wanted to promote products mostly on Amazon for obvious reasons - it's so popular and one can earn commissions on other products if the customer clicks through on your link but maybe buys a different product.
Several of my posts had several links to Amazon Products. I was optomistic at the time that I would have the required 3 sales in the 6 month period of time. Surely, I'd have enough traffic by then, I thought. Sadly, I was wrong. I only had one sale and I was kicked off the program last month.

Today, I finally finished the arduous task of editing all the posts that had amazon links - deleting them, looking up and getting code for the products on other affiliate sites, re-linking etc. Took me several hours! What a pain!
The problem was that I joined Amazon's program BEFORE I was getting any traffic. I'm still not getting much in the way of traffic, but I know it's because I still have to write about twice as many posts as I have now. Maybe I will rejoin when I do start to generate serious traffic.
Word to the wise, if you are new to WA, do NOT join Amazon until you are getting substantial traffic.
