My Toastmasters Project - Write A Compelling Blog
The following is a project in Toastmasters that trains members on the art of blogging. Part of this training is to write 8 blog posts in one month. Alternately if one already had an active blog, one could select at least 8 posts that were written within one month as part of this project.

My Speech
This evening at my Toastmasters Club meeting I delivered a speech on the above topic. Instead of it being a 2-3 minute speech, I extended it to 5-7 minutes.
The area between the asterisks is taken directly from the Toastmasters project guidelines.
I had the choice of writing 8 new posts or using posts from a blog I already have created within one month period. I chose the latter.
The Vice President of Education of my club suggested I expand m,y speech as club members could benefit from my experience. I asked the club members to review my blog and give me feedback.
My 9 Posts
I listed the following 9 posts which I wrote and published within one month.
- How To Create Good Content For A Website
- Why Is My Pay So Low
- Affiliate Marketing or MLM, Which Is Right For You
- How To Be Successful In An Online Business
- Why Do People Fall For Get Rich Quick Schemes
- What Is The Right Mindset For Success
- Do You Need A Degree To Start A Business
- How To Make Extra Money In Retirement
- How To Start A Business While Working Full Time
The Outcome
When my Vice President of Education saw these post titles she felt that our club members would be interested in all of them. None of the members had any idea what affiliate marketing was. It was a revelation to them that you could earn money in this way. This allows me to share more details.
Hence, I will be giving more speeches in the future where each speech will address the building blocks of affiliate marketing that I have already written posts about. I will share my screen to illustrate the points I will be making.
All of this will be via Zoom as we have not resumed meeting in person. Do I see a series of videos in my future as one of the outcomes? You bet!
What are your thoughts on this matter?
Cheers.
Edwin

Edwin, you've done well
I'm seeing an expert on these video series
Well done and congratulations
Hi Edwin…
I think this is great and I love the idea of a video series. Best of luck in that journey.
Thank you
-Mike
Hi Mike,
Since our meetings are on Zoom, I can record it to create a video. We receive evaluations at the meetings to help us improve. With some editing to incorporate this feedback I could have some effective videos to use on my YouTube channel.
Thanks for your supportive comments.
Edwin
I think you'll do great...and the content that you will be recording will be priceless!

Awesome. Yes, I see a video series. What a great opportunity to introduce a group to affiliate marketing.

As a fellow Toastmaster, Edwin, I would say that you have delivered, over and above what was required.
This is an excellent achievement!
Congratulations!
Writing a blog is a natural progression from public speaking.
It is in fact, a different way of communicating our thoughts and they could both work simultaneously.
Well done!
Cassi
Hi Cassi,
Glad to know you’re a Toastmaster too. Thanks for your supportive comments. I have a high bar to overcome as a DTM. My evaluation was very constructive and I won the best speaker award for our meeting.
Here’s another quirk. I founded this club in 2004 when I was Area Governor, now called Area Director. I have lost count of the members who have benefitted from it.
I’d love to know more about your Toastmasters experience.
Cheers.
Edwin
Edwin, I always speak of the personal and professional development I have been blessed to experience because of Toastmasters.
While in the Insurance Industry, I became a member of the Dynamic Speakers Toastmasters Club in Port of Spain, Trinidad.
I have spoken at conferences and worked through many of the leadership programs.
Toastmasters will always be dear to me.
Cassi
Hi Cassi,
Guess what is the name of my club? Dynamic Speakers of Northridge! Serendipity indeed.
Edwin
What a wonderful coincidence, Edwin!!!!
It certainly is. 🙂
