Soccer in the US.

SOCCER, known to the Americans by that name, but to the rest of world, it's called FOOTBALL. But whatever name you prefer to call it, this sport remains the biggest sport in the world. Many prefer to refer it simply as " the sport king". The reason why people consider it as such is the fact that it attracts millions and millions of people all over the world to come watch its games, and people around the world are just crazy about it. Soccer is just bigger that there is no country, no nation on the earth that does not play it, that's what makes it truly " the sport king".

In the US, soccer has not yet reached the same height as in other nations of the world, but it's slowly arising. It can, and it will reach that level. Soccer is not a new sport in America. The American soccer team played their first international game in 1885 according to archives. That was long before we were even born. Many of us don't even know that the American soccer team defeated England in the 1950 World Cup. And how many know that the American team reached the semi-finals of the 1930 World Cup? My favorite and best memories of the American team were in 2002 World Cup when the team reached the quarterfinals, and in South Africa 2009 Confederations Cup, beating Spain to reach the finals. So, as we can see, America has a soccer history. It's only that, for some reasons, the team is currently not doing well, and that much support is not given it as in other nations.

With much support from the public, and more dedication and right strategies from all those directly involved in soccer here in the US, SOCCER will rise again. We will still be able to remember the likes of Landon Donovan, Clint Dempsey and others for making this nation proud, but America will be able to say, we CAN and we WILL be proud of our soccer again.
