Could someone please advise me of the value of "pingbacks" relevant to my Wordpress site. Also what to look for as the ones I am getting are excerpts of my post?

Hello Ed,
Personally I disable those, but they have their purposes, knowing who is linked to your site...
I prefer to see this in Search Console, then having this thru a "pingback"...
