Is Reddit a toxic platform?

I recently joined Reddit, wasn’t really interested before but decided to join because of the training suggested it is a great source to find new niches.

I can definitely see the potential but in just two weeks I feel it is a very toxic environment, even worse than Facebook. People judging for being new or for giving your genuine opinion (which was a positive opinion by the way!), even judging your username because it includes the word “expat”??

Not sure if that platform is really for me. What is your experience?

It takes broad shoulders to survive Reddit. I absolutely love it, though!

If you want to know what people are REALLY thinking about something, they’ll 100% tell you. Reddit has helped me with tons of research and also for driving traffic to my YouTube videos.

However, it’s not for the faint of heart. Might I suggest that you observe for a while in your chosen subreddits? That’ll help you to get a feel for the group dynamics.

Reddit is a very different animal than Facebook, too. The dynamic is very different.

Cheers,
Darlene

Thank Darlene! I will give it another try for sure. I can see you can get a lot of insights about what people is interested in and built a business around it.

It just doesn’t feel good to see so many rude comments and people bullying others without even knowing the context or the background or because you don’t share their opinion. ☹️

Even if you think different, it doesn’t mean it can be a healthy and good discussion. It’s just kind of a bad vibe the whole thing.
