Your Solution to WordPress Theme Problems

I’m sure many of you have run across all sorts of issues in your WordPress admin area. Many times it can take hours just to fix a little issue with a plug-in or add a graphic to a sidebar. I basically have 3 credit hours of a Java class under my belt, but for the rest of my programming I’ve had to learn the hard way. Good ole fashioned hard work, reading, self-testing, and seeking support. So, you see I’m no expert either.

Find Support from the Source

One of the best ways I receive support on my beginner theme is to actually contact the theme designer. On WordPress’ website check into their support area and search for the name of the theme you are using for your website. Here you go: http://wordpress.org/support/

Theme designers are their own content creators and in order to maintain their content they have to connect with their customers. In many cases even free themes have long support forums where you will most likely run into another WordPress newbie that has your same problem. Even if you don’t find your problem you can post to WordPress.org forums for support or check back with your friends at WealthyAffiliate.com.

Outside Support

There is another site that I use where it is primarily WordPress experts offering advice. www.reddit.com/r/WordPress This is a community that is geared towards learning and support for all things WordPress. I have noticed a general trend on r/WordPress of users highly discouraging the blanket purchasing of expensive premium themes just to make your site pop. However, I plan on doing something similar to that eventually.

You Get What You Pay For

Now I’m not suggesting you go out and pay top dollar for WordPress theme just so you can be the best looking kid on the block. I highly encourage you to dig in and learn about your theme first and then all the tweaks you can easily do first. You really take the risk of buying something you don't understand if you make the move for looks over experience.

Find Yourself A Master

My ultimate plan is to actually hire a WordPress designer and build my theme from the ground up. I’ve already made this commitment by placing it in my 6 month goal forecast and I see it as reinvesting in my business. I admit I am no master, so I must call upon the support of a master.

I really encourage you to take a look at your website goals and always have a plan to improve upon your site. I think that you’ll find that you truly become an entrepreneur that not only works for them self, but you’ll also find yourself employing and hiring others like a true business leader.
