So far I've just entered my chosen domain name but I haven't published anything yet. Thanks.
Once you've purchased the domain name registration from your registrar (godadddy, namecheap, etc.), you own it and it's yours to use as you see fit. You don't need to create a site to own the domain name.

At what point does the domain name become minein my name?

Thank you BobBarr. What if it's a free one that I've entered on the site builder section on WA?
The content on that site will always be yours, the URL belongs to WA as a site Rubix subdomain.
Eventually you'll purchase your own and transfer the information to that new site.
Sorry, I thought you were referring to a personally-owned domain rather than a siterubix subdomain.

I understand it should be something I'm interested, but I also want to consider what will interest my potential audience. Thank you.
I choose something that interests me for this site. I am not 100% sure that it will be extremely successful, however, when I type my topic in google search there is an abundance of sites all around it. I feel confident that I can answer common questions and will do well. Once this one is under my belt, I can branch out to others that aren't so well researched and then just keep on going and going and... You will succeed here at WA - everyone helps
Thank you. Wishing you all the best with it. I'm sure it'll make content easier to write if you already have knowledge and interest in the subject area.
I must add that I have been greatly surprised at what people are searching for on the internet. Even getting keywords has opened my eyes to what people would like to know
This might sound daft lycefair, but could I ask how do you find what people search for on the net? Is that just when you start typing something and it predicts the rest of the text based on previous searches? Thank you.
Yes it is. To practice, go to google, and put in any word for now and as you type watch the drop down list to see what people have been looking for. Then when you decide what you are interested in and have in-depth knowledge about you start the process again with that.
You niche or website should be on a subject you have in-depth knowledge about as people will be asking you questions for which you will need to provide them with answers.
Secondly, if you get into a niche you have knowledge about, it is easier to write out quality content without struggling

I don't think I explained myself very well BobBarr. Thank you, I appreciate your input.
