Use Keywords That "Don't Make Sense"?
I have been dealing with this for a couple days. How do I deal with keywords that are not entire phrases, but have every other requirement of a great keyword?
Example: I am promoting WA and am going through bootcamp. Let's look, as an example, at this keyword:
"make money home"
How can I use this keyword? If I put an AT in the phrase to make it "make money at home", would that change it? or if I made a phrase from:
"start home based business" to "start A home based business"
Does that change it also? Or should I try and just avoid all these keywords in general?

Within your content you only want to use keywords that make sense. Proper grammer means that you'll rank higher and for your readers the content will make sense.
...BUT...
You can get ranked for keywords that do not make sense and you will get traffic from them. The reason is that people use Google Instant and they will choose keywords that may not use perfect grammar.
As a rule of thumb, with EVERYTHING you do in the online world you need to keep your audience in mind.
Would your audience want to see phrases on your website that do not make sense?
Answer: NO.
Google sees words that do not make sense as a POOR user experience and they will rank you accordingly.
Great Question!
Alright. So use phrases that make sense on your site. But what about domains? If I want to get ranked on a high-traffic low-competition keyword phrase which doesn't make sense (missing a "to" or an "at" or such), should I use it as a domain?
Hey Walter, you want to choose a domain that makes sense to your target audience. Do not choose a domain based on keyword searches or data. You want to make sure that the domain uses proper grammar too if you're using a phrase. If a keyword is missing words like "to" or "at", you need to add them in to make it grammatically correct.
Cheers,
Carson
Anything that don't make sense avoid it
Here are the 3 rules in keyword research
1. aim for anything 400 and below but try and aim for under 300 if you can.
2. It must get at least 50 searches a month even though sometimes I pick keywords that get less.
3. It must make sense If it don't make sense then you will have a terrible time trying to write an article on it.
I hope this helps you out
Thanks! The only thing is with the 50 searches per month. Carson made a long post regarding how it could be less & still considered a good keyword.
That's why if it gets more than 10 searches a month I will go ahead and use it. Sometimes if it even gets less than 10 even though I wish it got more than that. I guess if you find 10 keywords that get 10 searches a month you will have 100 traffic to your site. That's a good way of looking at it I guess
50 searches a month as a "minimum" just means that you're targeting keywords that have some historic data indicating they will get searched. The most IMPORTANT thing when choosing a keyword is the competition being under 400, and the keyword being relevant to your audience. Well said Scott!
Thanks for that comment, on the searches for the month, wish I had read this before I did my keywords this afternoon, I will look at lower one's and maybe I can get a few more.
