Hey guys. I've been reaching out for some feedback and Carson suggested I post a discussion about it.

http://cheaptabletssale.com
http://cheaptabletssale.com/blog

This is my first real niche site. It's incomplete and a work in progress. If you click around, you'll see some product pages that are complete and some that aren't. Also missing from the product pages are the "buy now" buttons, linking out to the merchant websites via affiliate links. The blog section, link shown above, will be news on new tablets and product reviews for tablets I have on my site.

THANKS FOR ANY FEEDBACK, positive or negative!

Hi again, Seth! (Found your name below.) Just one more thing. If you are looking for a reason for an opt-in email listing, how about sending out a newsletter for any new products you have listed? Or perhaps new reviews? You may even be able to roll them both into the same newsletter. Such as "here's a new product I found" and "here's a review of said product". If you want more info, visit cheaptabletssales.com.

Yeah that's exactly what I was thinking! Great idea! Thank you!

No problem, Seth! I'm no expert but I have built a few sites. Unfortunately, they have been for other people. I'm working on getting my own sites off the ground right now.

Hi! I just took a look at your site. It's a very nice professional looking site. However, I didn't see any information about who Cheap Tablets Sale Company is? Did I miss that? Your site looks like a company site and people may wonder who they are actually buying from. Also, in your navigation bar, when you click on say, Samsung the picture is quite small. I'd go with bigger pictures.

Just my two cents!

I will definitely experiment with picture size! And yeah I haven't done the information about the website yet. I'm working on that as well :D

very professional!

Thanks a lot!

Very, very nice!

Thank you!

Hey dshmizil, I LOVE YOUR SITE! Very polished and pro-looking. It gives off an air of authority and I can see you put in a lot of work. You have a great eye for design and everything flows well. The main thing that hit me was the eye-catching way you present your featured products/deals with the slide transition. Good job. Keep it up. I hope my own sites will compare.

Thank you I appreciate that very much!

Hi, Dshmizil! Your site is looking sharp -- a very professional, clean and crisp presentation of your content given the niche you're targeting. I also think your product description and review content is well-written (and to me, that's a big plus when it comes to making a good impression on visitors). It definitely shows that you have been working hard on applying your WA learning and on creating an engaging site.

Here are just a few more points I noted:

(1) I really like your Home Page with that image slider. I have one on my site as well. One suggestion -- adjust the slider speed (slow it down some) because it was a little difficult to read the slide information. I believe you should be able to do that in your slider settings section.

(2) On your actual product description pages, are you able to reduce the amount of blank space above the product information section? Specifically, It's the area on the right-hand side that has your breadcrumbs (with the white background) and your "Grid" or "List" buttons. For some reason, that empty space was the first area I was drawn to when I opened each product page. Not sure if that was your intention or not. However, can you possibly put a background image there -- or just change the background color of that one area? (Sure do wish I could attach a screenshot to this comment and show you exactly where I'm talking aboutt!!!)

(3) Just curious... will you have a tab in your menu that says "Blog Reviews" or something like that? Or, will the reviews appear on the actual product page? My reviews are on my static pages of my site next to my product images. I have a separate "blog" page where I also introduced myself in my initial post, then pinned that post to the top of my blog. I did that in lieu of using an "All About" page (as Tommy suggested doing in his comment).

It looks like you can add "extra text" areas to your pages, correct? If so, then maybe you can put both an introduction to the site (where you also introduce yourself) and a Disclaimer bar directly on the page (perhaps, right above or under the slider with your introduction, and nearer the bottom with the disclaimer text).

(4) Finally :o), I recall you asking in an earlier post about putting "Buy Now" buttons on your pages. I commented that I did not like to use them because they seemed too pushy to me. Now that I've seen your site, however, I think the "Buy Now" buttons will be very appropriate. You will only have them present in your slider slides and on each product page, right? If so, I don't think that would appear pushy as all.

*********************************************************************************************
Hope I helped you out some! I really think you're doing a fine job and you won't need toooo much more tweaking :o) If you're like me, optimizing your content will be easier once you feel satisfied with the layout of your site and with the first impression you want visitors to have. So, continue to take you time and don't rush the process. It will all come together perfectly, you'll see!

~Marie

Marie, THANK YOU! For the first time I really feel like I'm making progress with this! So to respond to your main points:

1) Done. I made it 7 seconds instead of 3.

2) I found exactly what you're talking about. Not sure if I can change it. I'll play around with it.

3) I do plan on doing an about page, and having it appear in that small footer menu. And as far as the reviews, this is something I've been asking around about. What do you think? The reason I originally had it as a separate blog post is because the "content" section on the product pages is only on the left hand side because of the image on the right in this theme, so it looks kind of awkward with a 400 word review there. Also, the product pages aren't the regular "blog" post content pages, these are apart of a certain wordpress plugin that deems them as "product" pages. So I wasn't sure how these would be indexed in google. I planned on maybe linking back to the product pages from the review pages. What's your opinion?

Not sure about the extra text areas. The only reason I even have the additional tablet specs box was because they are given to me in the template. Not sure about new text areas. Maybe I'll just put the disclaimer again in the footer menu. But I do see your point about introducing the site. Do you think people care though in this type of niche about it coming from someone personable or just about getting the best price?

4) I totally agree about the buy now buttons. Just waiting for content to get ranked for the respective keywords as suggested by Jay in the Jaaxy tutorials.

Now I have a question for you. Do you think there's opportunity to capture some e-mails here and provide some kind of incentive for an opt-in? And if so, what do you think that opportunity is? I haven't thought of one besides maybe saying they can be updated on news with new / newly discounted tablets...

Thanks again for your help! It's much appreciated.

-Seth

Hey, Seth (and it's so much nicer knowing your real name :o)!

Have you taken a look at Kyle's training module "The Art of Email Marketing" (https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/kyle/blog/new-training-the-art-of-email-marketing)? I think it's excellent and it addresses the issue you raised to me about capturing some emails and providing a relevant incentive for an opt-in. He also addresses your concern about whether people will really care about who's behind a site such as yours.

I believe as Kyle does that a highly successful affiliate IM site is going to be one that makes multi-level personal connections with users and thereby, establishes long-term relationships with them. I think you could very well accomplish that even with your particular niche. By the way, Jay has a another good video tutorial, too: Success with Email Marketing
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/success-with-email-marketing-wabinar Check it out!

Once you get your site well-established with Google ranking and all, I think you should experiment with email marketing on your particular niche. IMHOP, your idea of using a technology-focused, updating newsletter is a good one. In fact, I found and downloaded a pdf from Gleanster called EmailLabs-How to Grow Your Email Opt-In List that gives another very thorough account of how to set up and maximize an email campaign (esp. one that uses a newsletter incentive approach):

http://www.gleanster.com (then enter the term Email Labs in the search bar to get to the pdf file to download)

As far as other incentive ideas are concerned, I'm still in my learning curve with all of this as well. I want to try to entice users to opt-in to my site, too. So, right now for my niche, I'm looking into using some promotional deals that originate from my affiliate vendors as incentives (i.e. certain Amazon and Commission Junction participating vendor promotions my visitors can be made aware of or participate in). Perhaps you can do something similar with the vendors with which you are associated.

I'll get back to you with some more ideas after some extra research into your particular area (discounted tablet technologies). Hopefully, other more "expert" WA members will weigh in on that issue in the meantime :o)

Marie

Marie, thanks again for that really in depth reply. I feel as though I should return the favor, so do you have anything for me to critique of yours?

No, I'm good for now (big smile). Thanks, though! But, please don't ever feel obligated to return the favor -- I was very happy and honored to offer my help. Hopefully, since I'm still rather "green" here at WA myself, I WAS indeed helpful (LOL)!

OK... Maybe when you get a chance, you can take a peek at my site and tell me what you think about it. Like yours, mine is still developing. The link is on my profile page.

Thanks, Seth!

~Marie

Not not obligated at all! More than willing and even happy to!

haven't forgotten about you:) I'm getting to your site review!

Ok here is my two cents your home page should be set up with lots of content and keywords pertaining to your domain to get the people interested in it first then you need about me page, disclaimer page and also privacy page. Then you can start making post pages about different tablets as a review with lots of content. That's just me. But the site is looking good.

Thank you. I'd agree with that assessment! As I said, it's a work in progress and I'm actively moving to get all that done ASAP!

Keep up the good work

Do you know a published page or post can be saved as a draft which will remove it from the web. When you complete the page then republish.

Yeah I know that! Haha. Besides that, any critiques?

Ho there, you have a great looking website.

The only thing I would suggest to you is why did you publish post that were not ready? (incomplete as you say). In my opinion I would complete a page/post fully, publish it, and then move to another one.

Just my ideas :)

Thanks. Yeah not sure why I didn't just save it as a draft, but it's too late now ;D

I understand the need to fill up a site so it looks"alive" but try to get the post fully optimized then publish it...

as always, this is my amateur opinion :)

Goal for today is to get each post optimized :)

Additional Point of Information:

No outgoing links yet because Jay suggested waiting until pages reach 1st page ranking before putting some on.
