Change of Focus

Today was a really great day for me. I figured out that I needed to focus more on others. I worked for MBNA for 10 years and there is a MBNAUsed2Be group on LinkedIn.

The philosophy and the environment at MBNA was such that I don't even think I could give it justice in words.

So, here, in an attempt to try to regain some of that environment, I am going to ask others, namely YOU.

What is working for you, what isn't? Have YOU focused on your customers lately?

Wealthy Affiliates philosophy reminds me of the environment fostered at MBNA.

I look forward to hearing about other WA members focus on others.

I start about 45mins earlier and go through email, allocate time for training, research and writing pages/posts

This sounds like a doable schedule. I just need to make mine and try my best to stick with it

I have no definite routine because I never know how I'm going to feel when I wake up. Lately, I've been in too much pain to even think about a routine. However I do try to read email and post on WA every day and learn something. Wether I do something with that knowledge is determined by my feet. If they are not as swollen and hurting, I can sit at the pc and type content or work on my sites. But on bad days I can basically just read and learn.

I have neuropathy in my feet and that is part of what is driving me to work from home (I love working from home anyway but it is hard to drive). They go from hurting to my not being able to feel them. On really bad days it is like 1000 bees stinging me from the inside out.

I am able to work by laying down instead of sitting up, so my work area is basically my bed.

How do you type in bed. I use my ipad when I'm lying down but typing with one finger is too slow for me.

I have a remote control keyboard and mouse. So I prop my keyboard on my lap/hip depending on how I am laying. The mouse is also remote control.

My 30 year old son helped me get it all setup and working.

I do use two hands to type.

Well for me..the left brain has to get email out of the way...create content for my site or working on a project for my site. Go to social and site and comment or request invites or just add to my friends list...these are on and off...not every day...:))

I'm still working on my routine.

I go through emails with my coffee in the am. It's a good start to the day. I don't always have answers to the technical problems, but I try to encourage people to keep going. Not everyone here is fortunate enough to have someone on the sidelines doing that. As far as my website, I took off a lot of the monetizing for the moment to work on content, helping and building trust.

I read your profile. I too am extremely left brained (technical and black and white) and working on my right brain (creative and shades of grey).

I am, for the most part, able to answer technical questions. It is the marketing part where I often times get stuck. Like the social networking and such.

I am still building out my site so the only monetizing I have is limited to WA. I am working on adding Jaaxy.

Hopefully you watched Jay's webinar last night.

When I'm I'm having breakfast I go through WA emails and try to help/respond where I can. It sets me up for the day.
In the evening I'll spend a bit of time in live chat, I'm amazed that I can now answer some of the questions that are asked!
On my website I try and post articles that will be helpful. It's hard sometimes when at the front of my mind is "how can I make money out of this!" Then I remember the training, your readers need to trust you, very good advice! :)

My schedule is a bit different. I try to start my day with spending a bit of time on chat.

Like you, I am amazed that sometimes I can answer questions people ask.

I kinda deal with emails (PM message) throughout the day.

I then spend time working on things for others and going through the Bootcamp training again.

I'm not very sociable in the mornings!

I'm not either if I haven't had my coffee. So I do drink that first

Lol!

Hi there, tonight I have dedicated to going through some post and questions from WA members...and nothing else. It feels great :)

Yes, when I take a break from working on my own site and spend time helping others it always feels great.

It is true that we can be oblivious of other people and what they are going through when we are overwhelmed with our own situation.

Personally, I've found out that contributing to the overall wellness of the people in my immediate environment is therapeutic.

Therapeutic is an excellent way to express this.

I try to have a daily focus on others. Most days I achieve it. Sometimes I fall short of my expectations. At the end of the day I try not to be hard on myself...and focus on me.

There are times where I need a bit of "me" time, just to get myself back on track.

My feeling is that although we do need to post specifically about ourselves and our experiences from time to time, it should be done in such a manner as to identify yourself individually and also as a part of the whole....networking is where we get nourished and nourish others.....

Nourishing others is what I am about.

My focus is on helping other people find more joy in life! M

Cookma54.....Whether serious or with humor I always find enlightenment in your comments. I concur with your focus. To me it's about contributing something useful to other people.

I agree
