Biting off the big Elephant in the room, one bite at a time

I spent all day focusing on Social Networks. I am still going through Affiliate Bootcamp but I wanted to "play around" a bit with the Social Networks.

I learned how to add an image to Twitter, amazing what the Twitter help documentation has available to be found by simply doing a search.

I learned how to setup Google + thoroughly, Verifying Emails and LInks (all included in the WA training). Now I have one site at 100% and two others at 90% only because I haven't posted anything to them.

I spent time on LInkedIn looking into groups.

Doesn't sound like a lot, but when you take into consideration the image creation and the content to put in these varieties of formats I realized it is quite time consuming.

Maybe it is just because it takes a bit of time to get everything setup. My hope is that now that I know what is involved it will be easier to schedule the required updates.

What I can say is that I am really grateful for having found Wealthy Affiliate. The training is unbelievable.

How To Mine Twitter To Grow Your Audience
“If you build it they will come” is a terrible marketing plan.

To succeed on the Internet today, you have to create content that ignites and engages an audience. However, you should spend more time developing an audience than creating your content.

Here are some tactics you can use to build an audience on Twitter, which is arguably the best platform.

Once you’ve been on Twitter for a while, people will place you on public Twitter lists that are categorized by interest or location.

Find a relevant person to follow, and then dig into his or her lists. You’ll find people to follow who will hopefully follow you back.

A good place to find targeted followers is Twellow. This useful and free site is like the yellow pages for Twitter.

There is specialized Twitter search info at:
https://support.twitter.com/articles/71577-using-advanced-search

How to use Advanced Search:

1 On the results page of your initial search, click on the Advanced Search tab.
2 Fill in the appropriate fields to refine your search results.
3 Click Search again to see your results.

With these tactics, you can expand your audience to reach people who are seeking your products and services.

All I can say to all of the excellent information is WOW!. I am bookmarking this to come back to it.

Thank you so much for the time it took to put this information together.

You are welcome… it's called 'Just Paying It Forward'.

It appears you have a hang of this thing, Susie! Handling 3 websites is very impressive.

I actually have 4, but I am really only focusing (for now) on building up an audience base to legittelecommute first. It is a WA site.

I have been learning this online marketing stuff for about 8 years and 2 of my 4 sites are very old internet information that I purchased in the past and is considered outdated and obsolete, so I don't really promote them right now.

My thought is if I set them all up at once, I won't have to go through the learning curve all over at the social networks from a setup standpoint.

Plus I think it might help for them from a "start date" perspective later on when I do pick up each one at a time and move forward.

go through the workings of social sites can soon eat up your time, it is all about balancing your time

I am learning that I need to balance. For me it is kinda a "i don't know what i don't know" kinda thing. Once I have done it, then i do know and can readjust my time, energy, and efforts.

I know social sites can end up being a "black hole" and I have spent time there before.

My hope here is that by going through the process at WA and having people like you to post and share, I am reminded about not letting things like social site to eat up my time.

I know what you mean took me a bit of time to get the balance and understand how it works and I am still learning each day

I have been working on all my social sites as well, trying to make sure they are updated and running smoothly. I haven't done site verification for many of them yet as I know that takes me some time. It can be rather overwhelming. But like you, I felt good about the progress in spite of the amount of time it took.
Good for you for sticking to it.

Good for you too

Good for you. Shirley

That's awesome Susie, you're getting a lot done:)

I woke up this morning and realized that in the process I am also getting a bit more organized (in my mind at least) on what I need to be doing and when.

I can relate to how laying the foundation takes time and I agree with you that the training here is amazing! :) Christa

Thank you for the reply

Laying a good foundation takes some time....but in the long run is well worth the time invested.....

It has taken a bit of time for me to get the foundation part.

it takes time for each of us....you are openly and honestly sharing your experiences in 'public'...which is a true sign of personal strength...who do we all know who loves to say Rome wasn't built in a day? .... they are very wise and knowing words.....

I recently started looking closer at social media as well. I just posted an article about the best times to post for each one as well. I can pass that along to you if you didn't all ready come across it in your own research.
Setting up a new profile can be time consuming. Especially on LinkedIn!
I need to learn about adding images to twitter myself. I will look into that twitter help. I have managed to accidentally get video up lol.
Sounds like a very productive day to me. :)

I have been on LinkedIn for a few years and have been a member of several groups for awhile so it is the most familiar to me.

Here is the Twitter Help link I found: https://support.twitter.com/articles/20156423-posting-photos-on-twitter#

I would love to see you research about best times to post to social media.

Yes, I will sleep well tonight. I do feel like I have had a productive day.

It is also nice to be able to post something and get "pats on the back" so to speak. It sure beats been isolated and trying to create all of this.

It is a pretty short post, but here it is:
http://thebossqueenb.com/social-media
The one site I have had the most trouble with is Instagram. Mainly because my phone doesn't allow me to add many apps (cheap phone). I heard Jay's webinar on social media was really good as well as one on getting traffic to your site. I have them on my to-do list.
I just wish the list would stop getting longer!

Oh you made me laugh, which I needed. I have been in Information Technology for so many years that I gave up on the "closing one project all the way out" to get a good feeling type thing.

I don't mind the list getting longer, I just wish that it didn't keep changing so much.

Yes, and the other problem is that when I add something else it always ends up being more. For example: I saw Kristy and Sandra's videos they made so I really wanted to make one. I finally did it, took me about 5 hours because of my old laptop. I also began making quick how to videos for members and posting on youtube. But NOW, I have discovered I really like making videos and some other members have given me some great free resources I can use.
See? I just added even more projects to my list instead of just checking off the one I finished! lol

Awesome Susie, sounds like you are getting a handle on the social side. I just watched the video from Jay on driving traffic to your site, very interesting information in it. Keep up the great work. :))

I plan on watching it tomorrow. I was already in my "zone" when I saw it mentioned in chat.

Sounds good, enjoy! :))
