Does anyone use a CPA gateway?

Hi, I became a member of maxbounty, which is a highly recommended CPA gateway. All I'm trying to do is promote some offers as a test. I'm not necessarily looking to build some big niche and a website. I am new at this so and I know this does not seem to be how we are trained to do it on this site, but is this at least a plausible strategy? Pick an offer like penny stocks, or acne or weight loss from a CPA gateway, go over to an ad website and pay for some advertising for it? I'd appreciate some feedback. I guess I am just struggling so hard with patience due to the circumstances I am in. I know I just need to be diligent and stay the course studying. But I had done a three day experiment with some FB advertising and got a ton of traffic and likes on a page I was working on. Thoughts out there?

Wow, great tips guys. It really helps me clarify that part of the industry. I get some weird vibes from CPA now, like it's oily used car salesmen gambling on different offers. I'm sure that's not everyone, but I've seen and met some of these people whose ethics were lacking, shall we say. I still would like to investigate more into it as it is an interest of mine and I'm sure there is a legitimate way to conduct these offers w/o losing your shirt.

I don't really like to use programs like these as they place restrictions and often times you don't get exactly what you're looking for. Instead, I just have a list of affiliate programs that I found by watching and paying attention to ads around the web. If I think it would work for my audience I go to their site and see if they have an affiliate program. This gets me directly tied to them and allows me to more directly control who I'm advertising and where.

I got really interested in CPA at one time. Well, actually I'm still pretty interested. I'm a member of both, Maxbounty and Peerfly. As newbie, I'd recommend Peerfly.

A few things I've noticed about CPA:

*1 CPA marketers seem to be associated with spammers. Some of the credit card offers they run are quite questionable. And I think its that reason that WA doesn't condone them more.

*2 CPA is affiliate marketing, it's just a different form. The only real difference I've seen is that CPA networks have offers that will pay for leads. But honestly you can find those on your own, maybe not from the same places.

I mean you can go to anyone and offer them leads and setup a price per lead and probably make tons more, and without the competition.

3* There is big money in CPA offers. But then again there's big money in all affiliate offers if you do them right. CPA isn't a scam, but you're playing with the big dogs.

Those guys have a fat bankroll they play with everyday. They use EXPENSIVE tracking tools that allow them to know the exact moment an offer needs to be stopped. They have a number of tools to research offers and competitors running similar offers.

My advice:

CPA isn't for the faint of heart. If you're going to try CPA, you better get your money right. Because that's what it takes to play in that arena. Sure, you can use social media and SEO for these offers, but it's going to be slow, unless you find some miracle offer, or niche that no one's tapped yet. And it's unlikely to find that without using the right tools.

I've got some tracking software, tried it and made a little money, but it's not easy. You have to be willing to lose money first because most offers you run, will cost you money before they start paying.

And even when they start paying "they" say you get a 2-3 week maximum out of every offer. That means starting over pretty much every week or two.

Let me know if you're still considering this. I still work on it daily. researching and finding offers to test. You can contact me through one of the links in my profile.

Hey Chris, thanks so much for the post. We definitely need to talk. Maybe we could do some experimenting together. What type of tracking tools are you referring to? Maybe we could start out trying some smaller offers? I have a little budget to experiment with.

The part I'm having trouble with is actually how to promote the offer. For example, I know there are several different ways to promote, like 'contextual' or 'search' 'mobile' 'email'. But I've seen where you have their landing page and you have to convert it to your own, using an auto responder and your own server like a Filezilla. This is where I get lost.
The concept is easy enough. Join a gateway, grab and offer and head to an ad network, but I seem to be missing the connecting link here.
Thoughts on this?

Yeah, we can talk whenever you like. Just send me a pm. The tracking tool I use is prosper 202. It's free but you have to upload and host it on your own server. Its great to start off with, but nothing compared to what the big guys use. CPVlab is one of the best I think.

I'm not real sure what you mean by "converting their landing page."

What I've always been told is to create your own lander but make it very similar to theirs. Or you can just copy it by using their layout and images. Most networks don't mind this.

Anyway, you can contact me anytime.
