My niche is "security systems" which I've divided into DIY, Prepackaged-Monitored, and Cameras. After looking at what I need to eventually do to bring traffic to my site, I'm

Download Color Mag and take your Niche to make it into a News Article I believe you like the way you built your website.

I too love magazine themes. I currently use Envo Magazine and I love it. ColorMag is another great one.

I too would recommend picking one of the three and focusing on that. The do it yourself one is a great idea.

Personally,
I would focus on 1. Once you feel comfortable enough that you have given as much info you can on diy then move on to the next.
Don’t start multitasking, it wastes a lot of time. Just speaking from experience

I'm probably just saying this because I'm feeling overwhelmed but it seems like if I had a template to follow in creating my niche website, I wouldn't be "reinventing the wheel

What is your Niche

if you used a template what would differentiate you from the other sites?
it is normal to feel overwhelmed at the start
write everything down you want to do - and look at other websites - note down what you like - don't like and would like to combine.
but don't forget to create content - as that is what will get you ranked and visitors onto your site.
so good luck Michael

Are there any templates specifically for my niche?

I've covered the basic lessons up to creating posts and reviews but now when I look at examples of high volume affiliate websites I'm completely overwhelmed! The first reason

You don't have to do complex reviews of many different products at once. You could write a "Best (insert descriptors here) security system" post for whatever types of systems you are familiar with (affordable, home, business etc). Of a "Best (descriptor) security system 2019" for example and just review that specific system. Look for the keywords and let those guide you. If "Best...." is a great keyword use that as the title of your review. If "Affordable..." is better, (and appropriate to your product), use that.

I started reviewing only the products I already use or knew about and then looked for keywords that worked for those products. You don't have to jump right in to comparing multiple products side by side.

However, if there is a lot of competition in that niche, it will be best if you can write longer posts with lots of detail and those side by side comparisons are great. You can start by reviewing one or two at a time though.

I installed a plugin called Table Press to do some comparisons side by side. It is not fancy but the free version should get you started if you want to insert basic tables.

As you go through the training it should get easier.

Good luck,
Jessica

Just progress through the training..it will come to you. Don't worry too much this early in the game.

One small step at a time ...
you've got this

After having worked on an MS and PhD based on technical research, I can tell you, you know more than you think and the key to becoming an expert is to build on what others have already done. Not copying, but understand what others have done, then put you r ownspin on it and expand their work, find a way to explain better or draw additional conclusions, etc.
Greetings,
Walt

t all costs do not plagarize other reviews! If you AVE a basic knowledge of part of your niche, you are leaps ahead of normal people, i.e your clients. So write from that perspective and don't be afraid to reference other's efforts, just don't plagarize by copying!

Hi Michael, I hear what you are saying when we first enter a niche and start looking around at what some of the authority sites are doing it can just about make you want to pack and go home.

Just like when you started your career as a broadcast engineer you would have known nothing by the end much of the knowledge would have been second nature.

Online marketing is the same, the best way to overcome the overwhelm is to just start, creating, step by step you will build the knowledge and by applying that knowledge we create.

This is where the true value of WA emerges we have the ability to tap into a vast amount of knowledge and resources to help us on many fronts.

If you are looking at some authority sites it would be fair to say, that some of them will be utilizing word press.

This site will give you a break down on the theme and resources that a site is using by way of plugins. it makes it possible to reverse engineer features that you may find useful in the creation and development of your site.

Hope this helps, remember we all had to start small and build as we go

Been there done all that! :) I just finished up the training over a month ago, so I have been in overwhelmed land since. Remember it's a process. Remember it could be monthssss before your site is built up enough to start feeling like a proper site - it takes work and writing and fixing stuff. In the meantime, I focus on tasks I know I can get squared away, there's plenty. Every once in a while, I will tackle one of the hard ones - and almost always have been able to solve it. So, bookmark all the sites you take inspiration from and start googling, how to make a comparison charts in wordpress, etc.... when you feel the fortitude to tackle something you have no clue about. All the info is out there but it can be daunting finding it, understanding it and making it work. Before getting complex just make sure everything else is solid and quality. If you start messing with code, make a child theme first (another thing to google) and if you get filezilla you can download the backup of your site in case something goes wrong and you have to restore the latest version. I download my site files after any day I have made changes. It can take up space so delete the old ones. You are building a virtual structure, it'll take time. Don't get too overwhelmed, just keep plugging away at it. :)

Just keep taking it one step at a time. I have personally learned that it's so much easier to get overwhelmed when you think of a large task as one big whole. When in reality it is many, many smaller steps. Don't try to get to the end in one big leap. Just keep walking down the path and you will get there!

Having a working knowledge of your niche is excellent! You can learn from other reviews but don't just copy them. You have a unique voice and unique knowledge. You will be able to combine those things, with your research and create posts that are valuable to your audience. Believe in yourself! You can do it.

Hi Michael. Most of us go through periods where we feel overwhelmed. If you are happy to stay with the niche you've chosen the do heaps of research on it. Stuck to the training here and ask questions on anything you don't understand. One step at a time my friend and you'll make it. Jim

You do that by incrementally creating one blog post after another on the topics within your niche. As you write little by little, your experience grows and so does your confidence and authority.

The niche sites you see that are big didn't start that way, they incrementally built up to that.

I noticed my site is not properly formatted for a cell phone. Is there a video on changing the format for cell phones?

It’s really all about the theme. Consider changing to a different theme that offers a better mobile experience.

A mobile friendly theme is a must have Michael.
