Kidney and pancreas transplant
Last year, Don was diagnosed with stage 5 kidney failure. He has had type one diabetes for the majority of his life and this has caused complications with his kidneys and pancreas, hence the need for an immediate transplant.
In order to be put onto the transplant list, many expensive procedures have already been done. He is currently Doing dialysis for 10 hours a night. The last test he had was an angiogram from the UW and they gave him a provoked stroke which really messed up his left eye.
The expenses are astronomical, a kidney transplant alone, without insurance, costs over $500,000. The funds raised will help to make up the difference that insurance and out-of-pocket costs can't cover, and allow hopefully allow him to get the transplant he needs.
As of right now, Don does not work but still finds the time to be a husband, father, grandfather, and an all out nice guy. He has raised 7 kids and has been blessed with many grandchildren
