I have a Wix website (2pooped2scoop) that I have on my own domain (www.2pooped2scoop.com.au). WA hosts my domain, but I can't get the website to load when I type the URL in. C

If my website is hosted by BlueHost would I have to create a domain specific email through them, not through the Build the Website tab?

Hey Kari,
Yes, you are correct. You would need to do it through BlueHost's Cpanel access.

Jim

When you uploaded it via FTP to your WA hosting, did you put it in httpdocs? That is the root of your website, not the actual root of your WA. I am not sure what you mean by the Wix website not showing. Can you expand on that?

Jim

Hi Jim,

Thanks for your reply :) I am not sure what I am doing with filezilla! :) All I know is that if I go and type in my url in a browser, I am only getting the wa placeholder message saying that I need to change the index file, but of course as I don't know what I'm doing and don't want to mess anything up, I am just at a standstill at the moment. I don't know filezilla well enough! :( I am thinking I will have to view some videos on it so I can get to understand the screen better. Also, there seemed to be a lot of errors in file transfer ...

I'm not sure what your Wix site looks like so I don't know what your motivation is for it. My advice would be to use the techniques from the lessons that you learn here at WA.and create a completely new site. WordPress is so much easier to navigate than legacy websites. Then when you get more familiar with all the geeky stuff, you can incorporate your wix site into your WA site.

Best Regards,
Jim

Thanks Jim,

The Wix website is just for a small business - it's more informational and doesn't really generate business like my Wordpress site (allthingsfamilytree.com) that I'm currently building. As I am fairly new to Wordpress I quickly threw the other website together on Wix because it was quicker for me to navigate so I could get it up and running. I will eventually convert it to Wordpress as I go along - but for now I just wish I could see it when I type the URL into the browser! :) I will play with ftp a bit more today. Thanks for helping me on this - much appreciated to know that someone else is there to offer support! cheers :)

Another option is to forward your www.2pooped2scoop.com.au to your wix account for the time being until you become more familiar with all this stuff. You can ask the company that you registered your domain with (Godaddy? Namecheap?) for instructions on how to do this. It's a temporary solution but it will make it so when someone enters the www.2pooped2scoop.com.au into the browser it will go to your wix site.
