Strike while the iron is hot.

This saying came from the days of the blacksmith and means to do something immediately before you cool like a piece of red hot iron does over time.

It seems like the older I get the cooler the iron gets before I strike it. At least the age thing is what I seem to use as an excuse more and more.

Wealthy Affiliate is probably the best program I've had the good fortune to be involved in and I mentally kick myself everytime when I find myself off on a tangent.

If you are younger than me (almost everyone is) and trying to make money with WA I urge you to strike while the iron is hot instead of trying to work it when it's cooled off.

Hopefully I'll keep this saying in mind whenever I see the red hot color start to fade as I strayed again.

Best of luck going forward and try to keep this saying in the front of your mind instead of the back.

Hi my friend,
You have just hit a big-time homerun with this blog post! It rock and makes a lot of sense to achieve everything while the opportunity is there. Never to put off what can be attained right now, and not another time!!
Much success to you with cheers!
Charles

Thanks, Charles glad you liked it.

Great idea indeed. When I was in my career early days I had competed a major project successfully. So I asked the Project Manager was that a good time to ask my supervisor for a raise. He used these exact words. Strike While The Iron Is Hot!

Another way to interpret this phrase is to seize an opportunity immediately when you see it. Because if you wait, it might disappear.

Love the picture!

Great story Edwin and a perfect addition to my thoughts.

Good Morning Don,

I think it is ok when getting older one tends to be a tic slower. When I look at myself I really cannot say that I have ever done things very fast. Too much hectic makes me nervous.
Remember the fable of Aesop, The tortoise and the hare. I am like the tortoise.
Not striking the iron when it is red is a shame of course and it has happened in my life. No good to cry about spilled milk and I should be more vigilant in the future.

Greetings from the south of Spain,

Taetske

Thanks for the pep talk I don't feel so bad now.

It's infinitely easier to strike while the iron is hot because in a molten state, iron is malleable and you can shape it the way you like.
When the iron is cold, it becomes hardened and more difficult to shape. For reasons, I fail to understand, we always wait until the iron is cold before we strike.

I beg to differ as there are a lot of people in WA that are hitting the iron at the right time.
Don

The ‘we’ is not inclusive of all members of Wealthy Affiliate. It is referring to people like me who take things at a leisurely pace.
I hope this clarification helps narrow the field.
