How to Fall in Love with Writing
Are you lucky to inherit a gene feeling the need to feed your mind with written words like feeding your body with food each day? When I was a little girl, I remember forming an exciting habit to peep in the mailbox looking for the monthly delivery of Reader's Digest. As a child, I was not only a loner, I was a word nerd. I enjoyed reading and playing alone in my bedroom. My friends were imaginary playmates to escape frightening bullies in the neighborhood. I adored my mother for thrilling access to her book and magazine subscriptions. She didn't even find them missing when I'd sneak and stock them in the closet!
My learning experience is great at WA. Our community is a rich, resourceful, playground also training us to be a better writer. It takes practice to write well. Writing isn't easy for anyone. It's a laborious isolated activity requiring numerous rewrites to capture attention. People either love or hate the process. If you hate writing, I believe you can learn to love it. Why? I believe online business success depends on well written content to receive profitable traffic. There is no way around it. Web sites must show quality writing to engage visitors. Unless we can afford to hire writers, it's cheaper to find motivation to learn how to fall in love with writing and nurture the best writer within us.
1. Read a lot.
Are you reading lots of materials related to your online business idea(s)? Voracious reading gives birth to writing inspiration. Hang out at a large book store at least once a week. Surround yourself with books and magazines about your interests. It's worth the investment. I highly recommend reading books to develop a love for writing. When I was a teenager, I purchased Writing Down the Bones by Natalie Goldberg and many other wonderful books on writing. If I hated writing, I would purchase books on writing to help develop to like it. Like often leads to love.
2. Know your passions.
What are your passions? We all have more than one passion for doing something. You'll know when you've tapped into a passion. If you haven't developed an obsession to take consistent action to do a pleasurable and meaningful activity to you, then you have yet to discover a true passion. Devote time to thinking about your childhood. Clues to your passions are revealed during childhood. You should still be doing what you did as a kid.
3. Spend time in quiet space alone.
There is nothing worse to destroy the flow of your creative juices than attempting to write in a noisy or distracting environment. A quiet place is required to date your writing muse. He or she is your writing lover that demands to be put in the mood to help you write your best.
4. Focus on one part of the writing process.
Good writing requires many tasks to do. Focus on one part of the writing process you like. Writing is an intense skill using primary abilities to type or hand write, proofread, edit, brainstorm, organize, and rewrite. Do you prefer using a typewriter or a computer to write? I must use a computer. Before typewriters went out of business, I had to write on a typewriter. Otherwise, I have no desire to write. Many writers prefer handwriting with pen and paper. Handwriting doesn't work for me. I refuse to do it. Talk about hard work. I enjoy typing on a keyboard while looking at the computer monitor create each word. It's less messy, saves time and stimulates my muse. Handwriting endlessly annoys me. I must not see pencil or invisible ink eraser marks on the paper. I am weirdly bothered by seeing slashes across words to delete them. It clutters my mind. Try handwriting if you normally use a computer or vice versa. The opposite tool may work for you to get better results feeling more comfortable or relaxed to write. The experts say handwriting is best to do.
5. Conquer writer's block.
There are times writer's block is guaranteed to knock at your door. Extend an invitation to come in; don't ignore writer's block. Then leave your environment. Get out and take a scenic drive, grab lunch, take a walk, or exercise at the gym. Take action to perform another activity besides writing. To sit frustrated forcing yourself to write will irritate your muse to abandon you. Writer's block is triggered when you need to relax and think, then return to work on your writing project at a later time. Research foods good for brain power. Ditch overdosing on caffeine. Start a new writing project to keep in your arsenal of interesting topics or stories, then go back to the writing project that you should finish. You can talk about your writing concerns or frustrations with friends or community supporters at WA. Choose to write articles or posts about subjects you care about. Connect love to your chosen topics, meaning you are writing to help others and not to satisfy yourself just to write.
Writing is an enjoyable art form using the right tools for you. Discover them.
Happy writing!

Hi Dina, some sound advice, if we were to look for one of the main reasons, folks drop off and give up on the opportunity to create a successful online presence it can be fair and squarely laid at the door of their relationship with writing.
Like all relationships they need work and nurturing many give up before they begin, the thing is like you say we can develop, not only that we can grow our skill through practice.
Thanks for the insights.
