Tip of the day 23
Todays tip is about domain names and branding. Creating your brand is an important part of blogging and it flows together with your niche. In the training you will also see that your domain name should be relevant to your niche.
When I created https://buzzboxer.com I had other ideas about how to brand my site. My site isn't about boxing or the breed of dog in anyway. When I picked my domain I was looking to do what Apple and Google did.
I wanted to create a new brand that was totally off the wall and catchy. I looked at my dog when I was trying to think of a name and buzzboxer came to mind.
A week or so ago I ran into a new training done by Kyle on domain name setup. https://my.wealthyaffiliate.co... I apologize for those of you who are starter members because that link is for training that only premium members can view.
While going over the training I had a question for Kyle. Should I have gone with a niche related domain name. My niche is make money blogging which again has nothing to do with buzzboxer.
I received a few comments on the question but one stuck out the most. "I'm sure you went with your gut instinct at the time of choosing your domain. It is highly debatable whether or not choosing a relevant domain name to your niche is necessary. You cannot go back now unless you want to buy a new domain name and transfer the content. You will also lose what ever rankings and traffic you may have had."
This comment definitely helped me out a lot and I appreciate it.
I now think that either way you go you can still run a successful blog regardless of how you named your domain.

We can angst about domain names at times, at the end of the day it is the content that drives our ship to where we want to be.
It is amazing sometimes that fresh set of eyes or ideas can be so helpful
Yes..a lot of this stuff is subjective and every time something goes wrong you blame yourself for choosing the wrong thing (my domain name is wrong...the font is too big...etc). WA is good for getting a second opinion & keeping you positive...good luck.
