Today's tip is how to make a nice looking red square or arrow on an image to emphasize a spot on your screen shot. This is Windows only (sorry Mac and Linux users). So first thing's first you have to take a screenshot. A quick easy program for this is already installed on your system. It's called the snipping tool. Just do a search for it on your computer. If you want you can right click it and pin it to the taskbar for easy access.

Then click on it to open the program and hit the new button. You will see that the screen changes a bit and your cursor turns into a plus sign. Hold down the left mouse button and drag to make a square over the area you want to screenshot.

If you mess up don't worry it won't save it just hit the new button to do it over. when you are satisfied with the screenshot click file then save as and give the screenshot a name.

Now we want to put that red square or arrow to show emphasis in a nice looking fashion. For this you also already have another program installed on your computer called paint.

Do a search for paint and again if you want to you can right click it and pin it to the taskbar for easy access.

Open paint up and you will see a little blue tab in the top right corner. Click that blue tab and go to open. There you will be able to find that screenshot you saved by name. Once you find it open it with Paint.

Now just find the rectangle in the shapes section on the ribbon and click it. There's also arrows there you can use too. Then click the red square in the colors section on the ribbon.

Now you will have a plus for a cursor again and you can again hold in the left mouse button to drag and make the red square. If you mess up here you can hit the undo arrow in the top left to go back. When you are happy with your square or arrow you can just click the little save button that looks like a floppy disk in the left hand corner.

Then once you have saved it you can close Paint and upload your picture or put it where you want it.

Final tip with paint - you can also click the size button on the ribbon of paint to make your lines bolder.
