Get To Know The People
I just wanted to point out, based on my experience from yesterday, writing an article on a bunch of research from reading books or surfing the web may end up being a waste of time for some topics. It definately applies for the gaming niche. Players do not want to see a bunch of crap from book that they could just get a pdf or ebook for. In order to know what they want, it all boils down to one thing.
I just want you to know I can not engage worth crap on Facebook or Twitter before I go on.
The solution is to get to know the people. I find the base why is to drop in one of the conversations. The best ones are the ones with no engagement. Someone was suffering of lack of social engagement, so I decided to pop in because I do not like that myself. What do you think happens next. A conversation starts building up. Helping another person struggling is a good thing, not bad. You not only help that person make progress, but people will notice you at the same time.
Also another thing I notice that is useful for social engagement, other than talking to people in google plus, is using reddit. Believe me. You can get some really good stuff going on their when it comes to the gaming community. Plenty of feedback there.
What else do gamers want? They do not want some page with a bunch of words and a picture just slapped on it. The key to success with gamers is interactivity on your own post. They want to see you in engaged in the game yourself. So the key to being an authority figure in this niche is not just a bunch of content thrown on a page, but one where shows that you actually did it yourself.
Showing pictures of you actually playing the game and giving examples would help a lot. This could not only help with the niche, but the tactic probably could help with other niches as well.
Do not overfocus on just doing reading alone like I did. I want to emphasize that you need to really take part in the community to get any results.
Last night I got really depressed and felt like all was hopeless with my website. I had over 200 people going to dndgaming.com, but they would all just leave. I was trying to figure out why. So I just sat there and decided to go ahead and get two programs, OpenRPG and Tabletop RPG. I ran the tabletop rpg and there was only one player in the campaign. We did not really do much except talk about making a character and we had some laughs.
The point of what I was mentioning is I started to realize that I need to be playing games with these people and doing stuff with them instead of just talking to them in only a post. How am I going to know what is good stuff to talk about - and I mean useful stuff - if I am not having spending time with my fellow gamers.
There is nothing wrong with doing stuff related to what you are speaking about. I mean we all could use the relaxation now and then anyway. Sit down and play a game session everyday or for other niches maybe go out and work on your car or finish that home project yourself and see how it really turns out.

I know I had a few typos in there. Don't judge me.
