Dave here. Looking to do some online marketing because I want to work from home, and I want my "home" to be mobile! We live in Maine on 150 acres of woods, fields and streams. Lovely place and we love it! What we are tiring of is that Winter, a cold, refreshing time of home and hearth, lasts approximately nine months. Done that - for 28 years or so. Time to consider spending some of that time in, oh, say Costa Rica or Ecuador or Panama...
So, here we go! My interests are, (in no particular order): music, personal development/Law Of Attraction, natural gardening, health and fitness. Those are large niches, I know, so some honing and refinement must commence. Looking forward to the next few months!
Dmag99's Goals 3
Money Goals
Given that the question was about money goals, I am still going out on a limb to discuss goal setting in a different perspective. I recently learned these ideas, and am glad to share as it is a wonderful way to look at, set, and accomplish goals. Money is a ‘means’ goal, in that usually it is not the goal itself, but the means to do or have something. Often, the same is true of education – it is a means to get a job. The job is a means to earn money. The money is a means to acquire things – let’s say a car. The car is a means to move around, and for many people it represents freedom. Freedom is the ‘ends’ goal. Those ‘means’ listed are sort of common in the US, so most of us can relate to that. Forget the means, (the resource needed to acquire your goal), and focus on the end point! And let’s break our end into three areas – we want experiences, growth, and contribution. Using my goals as an example: I want to experience driving my new Tesla out of its solar powered charging garage. I want to travel, particularly in the winter months. I want to spend more time in my gardens, nursery, and woods. Those are the experiences I want to have. For growth, I have goals like: learn more about music, become stronger and more energetic every day, feel more connected spiritually. In the contribution column, I have a desire to create a renewable energy self-sufficient town, I wish to teach others the things I have learned to help them with their growth. These are just a few samples – I have pages and pages of goals! Finally, further break these down into manageable chunks, keeping the goals reasonable but requiring a stretch from your comfort zones, with dates attached. You want to stretch yourself, NOT kill yourself; or worse, set a goal so lofty that you don’t achieve it. So, if you are making $20k a year, and you want to make $1M, don’t try to get there in one go – you cannot “feel” the result; it is too unbelievable to you, and when you fail to hit the target it will mangle your self-esteem and confidence. How about $40k within the year? Now, take those goals and break them down into 90 day segments. What can you accomplish in 90 days towards the fulfillment of the goal? Pick 2 from each area to focus on, come up with a plan and get going. Lastly – we tend to overestimate what we can do in one year, yet underestimate what can be accomplished in three years. So set one year goals that stretch a little, but are believable. And set three year goals with a “sky’s the limit” mindset – go absolutely mad here, over the top, fantastic goals. Write all this down and start today! And, BTW – my initial money goal for this operation is $3k/month within 90 days because that’s what we need to continue our life as it is. After that, the sky’s the limit! I’d be ecstatic at $10k/month. I have up to 30 hours a week to devote.

Great insight on means and true value of goals. I will use the yearly goals myself to break down long term goals.

This is fantastic! I think thats why we are all here - to take control of our lives again via incomes that do not constrict our time i.e ability to experience. I look forward to seeing how you do because this is a great way of thinking about this whole process!

Scott - i can think of some niches, yet I am not sure. So I think i might just take the "given" niche of promoting WA, go through the entire process, and then know what I might do with other niches. Sound reasonable? The Question: should i therefore bail on the training and go to the boot camp?

Hey Dave,
This is totally up to you man about which direction you want to go. I am currently doing the boot camp now and I am having a really great time with it and making some good money. If you can't think of any niches right now, then you are more then welcome to start out with the Boot camp and later on down the road you could start up another niche.

I wouldn't recommend trying to have 2 or 3 websites at once just starting out because I did the same thing and I got nowhere. After you are doing this for a while and get some experience under your belt you could branch out then. For now I would advise you to pick 1 niche and focus on that. You will get a lot more accomplished and make more progress this way.

I hope this has helped you make a decision on what you want to do and If you have anymore questions I would love to answer them for you and help you out.

Thanks, Scott. Yes, i get that too many sites will drive one mad! I am talking about doing a WA sote to learn the process. Given all is well, I might add site 2. That's the thing i must resolve - will site 2 be music related, or personal development, or gardening? Again - if I promote WA, i will learn the process of marketing and promoting online. At that point, i can know if i have time and energy to develop other niches/sites. We learn... onward!

I think that is a great Idea Dave!

You can definitely use the Boot camp to learn how to market things online and use that for other niches. If you can get the basic idea of how Internet marketing works through the Boot camp then all you gotta do is rinse and repeat as they say.
