Using PPC to generate traffic - Bad Idea?

I recently joined Clixsense Pay Per Click program hopping to get more traffic on my site. I'm not interested in participating in the viewing of sites, I just wanted to advertise my own site. This was a big waste of time and money.

Although I did get a lot more hits, my bounce rate was over 90% every day I used it. This means that people just had it open for the required time (15 to 30 seconds) and left without reading anything.

I realized that people who joined Clixsense are extremely poor. I figured that the average hourly rate for viewing ads is around $1.20 per hour (.005 cents per 15 second view). Therefore there is no way they could afford to purchase my products.

I was wondering if anyone has had any good luck with PPC's and which ones work.

Thanks, Dan

Clixsense is a traffic exchange program and traffic exchanges are a huge waste of time. I say this from experience. Your best bets for PPC is Bing and Google. They are the biggest and will get you the most traffic.

Having said that, make sure you go through Kyle's training about PPC. The kind of traffic you send using PPC should be either a landing page where you can get a sale or an email capture. You also want to test derivations of the landing pages and the ads. This is a concept known as A/B testing. This will allow you to optimize the campaign to make it perform best.

But again, go through the training so as not to waste money on PPC.

Best Regards,
Jim

Thanks for the information... Yes, I should have known better. ;-)

I have never heard of it.

I noticed this as well. I advertised on there thinking people would actually comment and interact with the site, but you are exactly right. They left it open and closed it as soon as they could.

I just can't imaging sitting at a computer making $1.20 per hour viewing ads that are mostly scams.

I use ClixSense in my spare time just to kill time. I've built up $220 in the past few months. I contacted ClixSense and they actually give a $1 sign up bonus to the people that sign up through my site. It's a cool concept even though it is really low paying.
