Meditation - Happiness - Depression
Hello, my dear WA Family, good morning, good afternoon, good evening, or good night from wherever part of this wonderful world you came from.
Here is another one of my daily short meditations by Anne Wilson Schaef, Ph.D.
Thank you so much, and the topic is
Happiness - Depression
"When I was a small child ... I thought that success spelled happiness. I was wrong. Happiness is like a butterfly that appears and delights us for one brief moment, but soon flits away.." - Anna Parlova -
There is no difference between happiness and depression. They both have the same process. It is just the content that is not the same.
Both will come and go. The major difference between them is what we do with them.
We are always seeking happiness. When we see it coming we say, "Ah, come here, I see you. Stay with me always." Happiness laughs and says, "Oh, she's seen me. I can leave now." And it does.
With depression, we see it coming and we say: "Go away, I don't want you. Not me." And depression sighs and says, " Here we go again, I'm going to have to get bigger and bigger for her to hear me and learn what I have to teach."
So it taps us on the shoulder and says, "Over here, over here!" until it gets our attention. Then it leaves.
Both happiness and depression have something to teach us. Both will come and go. Both will return. it is our response and openness to learning from both that makes the difference.

I just this minute had to struggle to keep both my happiness and depression in check and balanced. Recently when I have writing these comments, at some point everything just goes away. A few minutes ago it happened again just as I was about to finish my comment. For an instant it is devistating. All that work for nothing. If I were let that continue, the depression would continue to grow along with the anger and negativity and I might quit leaving comments all together or I might just quit Wealthy Affiliate in disgust. Or maybe I would throw my cell phone and end up destroying it. But instead of doing those things, I took a deep breath and told myself I needed to keep going. I smiled and said to myself that any post by Elizabeth was worth doing a good job on.
Now before it all goes away again I am going to stop. I am very lucky that my happiness and my depression are back in balance, this way I am a much more productive person..Great post Elizabeth, talk to you soon.
You are a well-disciplined gentleman, Chuck
and so you have your thoughts in control and
thus your emotion.
I applaud you for that and you are actually doing
quite well in balancing your alignment with your
own self.
That is such an excellent attitude and you are
such a humble man to even admit that to yourself
let alone to us here.
I rejoice with you and with this New Year up in the
air, your success is forthcoming.

Depression and Happiness are like the Yin and Yang of life, Elizabeth! Knowing one at a given time in our lives helps accentuate the other! The idea is to smooth things out as much as possible so there is not such an extreme of each one in our lives!
