How to invest your money
"I'm good at saving money, but I have NO IDEA how to do anything related to investments and retirement savings. It majorly stresses me out because I have a bunch of money sitting in a savings account, and it's only going to lose value as time goes on. I don't have any investments that will grow over time, and don't even know where to start."
I found it hard to believe that most individuals and families are not educated on how to invest. Even when they know they should do something regarding their financial situation they don't. I've told my families and friends about my business and that they didn't have to join just for them to use our product to help them become better financially and they sounded so disinterested. People are not willing to face reality, myself included. I remember when my kids were still in preschool I had a financial guy approach me at work. He was willing to teach me how to invest. Honestly I had no idea what he was talking about. His looks and clothes intimidated me quite frankly. The thought that he may be hitting on me also crossed my mind. Then my mind wondered if I was to ask him for more information he may take it the wrong way and think I may be interested in going on date with him. I also didn't want him to think I was really dumb for not knowing how investing works. I have my pride you know. Now I'm kicking myself because I wasted money and years trying to have that comfortable money to travel the world when I became 40 years old or at least have a successful business.
Listen I've sold the products and tried them as well. You don't really earn enough to quit your job - and I'm sure others have and are truely succesful at selling the products. For me it was extremely difficult because I worked full time to then come home and cook a full meal; eating out was only for one day of the weekend. Then during the weekend I found myself doing the laundry and cleaing the house and preparing everything for the week that I was so exaughted and didn't want to do anything regarding the business, especially since the only marketing people I had as potential clients were my family and friends which wanted no part of it. I felt like a failure with everything I did, if my friends and family were not on board then I couldn't sell it to the world. Later I found well this is not true getting out of the comfort zone is important. Meeting strangers or at least talking to them on the phone is essential. You have to invest in yourself in your businesses because you never know let's use Real Estate market as an example that it crashed and if you didn't invest your money you lost everything. I hope you not counting on working just on your job 401K money because that doesn't leave you with much and the market is volite.
Right now you are probably thinking "I don't know how to invest my money. I don't want to ask anyone and feel like an idiot." Let me remind you, knowledge is power, and that you need to get out of your comfort zone and invest into something that at least do it automatically for you. That's what I did a year ago - that automated software it's making me money while I'm sleeping! Now I want to educate myself further and became interested in others doing the same. I'm avoiding friends and family for now. No it's not mean they started it! Just kidding - I figure they are the type of people that will have to see it working for you for them to purchase it.
Don't wait too long like I did to invest my money. Do it now! There's a simple way to do it and you don't need to pick up a book to understand it. If you have kids listen this is a must. I have been married and divorce and single mother for years and now married again. Even two income isn't enough. Don't get too comfortable in your current job's income either. Listen to my advice no one told me this that's because no one educated my mother and my grandparents and so on.
Be the "smart" sheep in the family!

Sound advice Michelle, we all need to learn how to invest and in today's world sooner rather than later. Should be taught in schools so when kids come to work they have the knowledge to become successful.
Thank you for sharing your insights.
You are definitely correct about not teaching this is school. My business is to educate others on how to invest...its a big taboo to talk about it openly it seems.
I cannot figure that one out, it would be a huge benefit to our social structures if financial numeracy was taught from an early age. Although dare I say it, that would have a major impact on the folks and institutions that lend money, better the masses remain uneducated. You have a very sound niche there Michelle.
