Are Micro Niches Dead? Lets Hear From You

Hello There,

One of WA's successes here, Dom Wells, wrote an excellent article.
I don't believe I am breaking any WA rules by posting his article from his website here:

Pole

His article is a rebuff against those whom are stating that the time of the mirco-niche are dead. I hope you get a chance to read Dom's article.

So to those who have their own niche sites up and running, what are your thoughts? Do you think the era of the micro niche's are over? Has the internet now went the way of the mega-corporations that put mom and pop stores out of business? Is the internet now dominated by sites like Amazon and other huge authority sites?

My very first post that I wrote here was about how the internet has given back the opportunity of having a mom and pop shop:

I would like to hear your thoughts. Let us know how you are doing.

I am still a newbie and do not have a niche site up yet. I have been getting through the training slowly, but I agree with Dom that the mirco-niches are not gone.

What say youUpdate: I have removed links from this Blog as I believe I am in violation of our anti spam rules. I will try to correct this blog post because I am interested in how people are doing against the big boys out there.

Hi David. Thanks for your kind words. I have read Dom's article as well as yours and I am in complete agreement. Unfortunately, we can debate the reasons for the disappearance of the 'Mom and Pop' shop but it will change nothing. We are part of the global free market economy and it will do what it does and the devil take the hindmost. Here, in the UK the 'Mom and Pop' shops would be our corner stores which still exist but they have been bought up by Asian immigrants. That's just a fact. The problem goes back to the supermarket which appeared here in the late 50's. Very soon, our local specialist shops couldn't compete and closed down. Once the competition died away, their prices went up.

In the 70's we were invaded by the Superstores and later by the Hypermarkets. On the continent they had the good sense to only license these large stores miles away from town centres. In the UK, we didn't. So, over time, the specialist shops in our high streets have been stifled by the giant superstores and hypermarkets.

Let's return to the internet. Who are the competitors of each individual wanabee Ineternet Marketer? It's every other Internet Marketer and everyone who is willing to take a customer's money. It's a jungle out there! And it is no use complaining about the tactics 'they' are using'. It's never going to be a level playing field.

Who said "Call me Ishmael".

Intrigued?

Are the little grey cells working?

Want to read further to see if there is something there for you? If the answer is yes, then you understand what I'm getting at. Our members don't do that. Instead we get "Aw shucks, I want to tell you about my pooper scooper."

Do you want to read further? Possibly not.

If there is anything wrong with micro niches, it is possible that they are not micro enough.

Ian

Thanks so much for your response Ian! This is the perspective everyone here should have. You can have a to. Of great free stuff to give away, but if people don't stay on your site then it won't matter.

You have put that in the forefront of my mind (that and above the fold). I wish I have had time to get back to my site but I have not added much since you last saw it. I did change the a of me page to you specifications and tried to make that 'above the fold' more interesting. If you happen to have to second part of you analysis I would still love to see it ( only the first 15 mins came over in the mail and the video just cut out). But I understand how busy you must be because you give such a complete analysis of the site. Thanks again for all your time you have shared with me!

I need to updat the Blog. The article was originally written by Dom Wells from WA, not Dom Wilson. I apologize to Dom for the inaccuracy!
