Importance of Profile Picture

Hello All,

I have never been one that likes to have my picture taken. Add to that with my recent eye surgery my face hasn't been up to taking a good "professional" looking picture. That said having a picture of yourself is important to represent you in your business. People, aka Visitors, who see a picture of a real person on your site, are more likely to believe your information. It is also more likely to represent you as an authority on your niche.

So my eldest daughter remembered a photo she took of me last Christmas. It shows me wearing glasses but I think it is a good picture to start with. So I have replaced my pretty butterfly with a real picture of me. I am also going to insert it in my About Me page on my site. So what do you think of my picture?

Thank-you

Dianne

It's worth bearing in mind that members in employment should be extremely wary about revealing their true identities here at Wealthy Affiliate or on their own sites, whether by using their real name or photographs or both.

It's common knowledge that many employers these days keep tabs on their employees online behaviour, and a member might be jeopardising a promotion or end up first in the queue to be fired if their boss finds out they are in the process of starting up their own business!

Hi Richard,

I didn't think about that. Good point. I was really thinking of those whose only business and "employment" is here at WA and with their site. I believe having a real person to represent your niche is better in this case. Thanks for replying and pointing that out.

I absolutely agree with you, as long as it's safe for them to do so. I'm afraid only just a few minutes ago, a member was shocked that I could find out his full name, his Facebook and Twitter profiles, and the names of his websites, all from a quick reverse image search of his profile picture from here at WA!!
