What a surprise I got today!
I was terminated from my job today. I worked this job for 8 years and almost 5 months. I'm 60 years old, essentially a single parent raising an 8 year old grandchild, and will have two more paychecks coming. So when I got the news today and left work immediately since I'm on admin leave for the rest of this week, I felt a bit anxious. But I made myself think beyond the fear and realize that I have the means to create an online income. And whaddaya know? Now I've got more time to concentrate my efforts. So although I'm concerned about COBRA payments and paying rent, etc., I am looking ahead, not behind me, and I'm confident that I will succeed. I may have to work some temp jobs or a couple of part time jobs to keep us afloat until my online activities start generating income. But I'm going to stay focused and move ahead.
Every day is a new day with new opportunities awaiting me.

I know where you are coming from. Last November I was terminated from a job I had for 14 years! I wish you the best with whatever path you take.
I was thinking that since you do have your grandchild then you could go and apply for state medicaid as soon as your other insurance runs out. Usually you are still covered for the insurance at your last job for a few weeks. Insurance is generally paid ahead of time. A single mom or dad here in NM gets medical insurance for themselves and kids. If you are the legal guardian of the grandchild then the medicaid covers you also. This would cover medical cost and you wouldn't need cobra. That would help save some money.
With your great attitude you will be fine. If you need someone to talk to then I can PM you my phone number and will lend an ear for you to talk about anything you need to talk about.
Best Wishes,
Mary
So inspiring to hear how you are turning a bad situation into a good one! Break through the fear! A lesson a lot of us can subscribe to! Good luck to you and I'm sure you will be fine! You have a great attitude! :D
@Ddsmades, "Can't never could." Thanks for the encouraging words. Although this feels very surreal, it is also an exciting new beginning.
Great quote for you..."If you think you can, you can. If you think you can't, you're right!"
Wish you the best!! I've been in your shoes and know that you can and will succeed if you decide too!!
@wtbee2013, I completely believe that. I am certain that something wonderful will come from this.
OMG I am so sorry. God is good as they say when one door closes he will open another one. More time for your new awesome biz.
God bless
Kymee

Yes, my school doesn't pay us in the summer so I have 4 months with no paycheck. At least I know I'll have something coming in September but that's a long time away.
Adversity makes us stronger, Right? So, you have to be strong, improvise, and do whatever it takes to get through.
I am mowing lawns, fixing computers, helping people move. Anything at all to make a few bucks to make the house payment, buy a little bit of food, and keep the lights on.
You can do it, you just need to get out of the employee mode of thinking. Of course, that's why you're here.
I have faith.
Kali
Thanks. At the moment my faith is faltering a little because I am tired. But things will work out.
