Another setback . . .

I found out yesterday that my last paycheck is only going to be for 1 week. I'd thought it would be a full two weeks. Oh well. I'm really glad I found out. My union rep spoke with me on Thursday, wants me to appeal the termination decision. I told him to go ahead, but afterwards I started to feel uncertain and a little confused. I finally had to admit to myself that I don't want to do that job any more. I've been feeling that way for quite some time now. It would be great to have another paycheck or two while I prepare for relocation. But I wouldn't want to stay longer than a month. However, I don't believe an appeal will change anything so I am back on track and moving forward.

I tried last night to list a gig on fiverr.com but had some technical difficulties with loading photos. I think tomorrow I'll take a ride and go see truck sizes to determine what I need to carry my things. And I need to sit down and figure out exactly how much money I'll need to earn in order to pay my bills each month. I'll start writing my proposals for the services I intend to offer and post them on Craig's list and see if I get some nibbles.

I like to go different places and have new adventures. This move will be different because I'm very familiar with where I am going. I still know people who live there so I'll have a small support system in place when I arrive. I'm clearly not feeling as energetic as I did earlier this week. I think I need some extra sleep. I've been working online every night and before I know it, it's 5 AM. But I think I've taken care of all of the loose ends I need to before I move. Now it's just a question of packing, loading, and driving. TTYL, everyone. Take care.

I agree with WillowKim. In 2009 I decided to quit a job I really hated. It took 6 months to find something else but when I did it was much better than the old job and that lead to my current job which is even better.

I believe we need to go through the occasional hard time just so we can better know the good times when they come. They adjust our thinking so that we can take the new steps that we need to in order to improve our lives.

While I do like what I do from 9-5 I would like to have the freedom to spend more time with my son which is why I am learning affiliate marketing. I know you are going to do well because I can read the determination in your blog posts.

Thanks, tazimmer. There were parts of my job that were very rewarding and the nicest people I've ever met have walked through the doors of the library into my life. But I have wanted to be free and independent for awhile now. I'm really enjoying spending all day every day with my granddaughter. I'm sure this change is for the best and I cannot wait to get settled in my new home and get down to the business of making money.

You know, sometimes the unexpected setbacks can propel us forward. We made a big (expensive) move recently, and shortly after that my husband's hours and rate got cut... completely out of the blue. It was a hard couple of weeks -- but now he's using the hours he got back (from a job he doesn't like) to pour into a project he loves and will hopefully also be an earner for us. He'd never have voluntarily worked less hours... but it turned out to relieve a LOT of stress and about 2 months later he's farther on the new project than he could have dreamed. Wishing and praying good things for you!

Thanks for the encouragement. All will be well. I've experienced that lower stress level you mentioned. That part has been great. And I am also enjoying working on IM. I'm so looking forward to being in a new situation. I think it's going to be great.
