I'm looking for the best SEO WordPress theme that's free. Any suggestions?
Thanks
David
I am sure that there are more SEO themes, but I only know of one...OptimizePress. It has free and paid versions. If you pay, I am sure that it is a full based theme and both versions are responsive for tablets and mobile.
Why is that an Seo theme I have optimised press but I can't see at all how it makes it a Seo theme
I only know what I read about themes, plugins and their respective descriptions. Some is from personal experience. Guess I shouldn't believe everything I read, huh? lol
Inside some themes there are attributes that says SEO I am working inside Genesis right now and I really like itYou can see what I can see in the dashboard in the image below. However it's just the start of a long long process of both on page and off page Seo. There are too many variables to mention here but at the end of the day the biggest one is unique content using keywords that everybody else is searching for to drive traffic to your offer
Thanks katkatskitchen. When I get some money together, I did want to try the Genesis theme...I have heard many good things about it/
I agree with katkatskitchen. Make sure it's responsible (optimized for mobile devices) and create SEO content (keyword research for example) and use a plugin like Yoast or All in One SEO to optimize your website.
It's not the theme particularly that will help you with Seo, it's the content. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I've never seen a theme that helps with Seo. I use Yoast the plug-in and that helps to keep me straight on Seo
Yes, I totally agree with you. The most important is that you use the theme that fits your needs, so you don't need to put too much plugins in it or need a lot of css changes, but I think that is very important to choose responsive theme.
Spend the money and get Headway Themes. It's the best out there, and gives you tons of control, customization, and an area to add custom CSS. I think it's only $60 for commercial, even less if you're only using it on one site. And it's only a 1 time payment, not a subscription. They also have a great support forum.

I'm just wondering where do I link my new posts or pages from my site in Google+. Do I add them to my 'Contributor To' or 'Links' section?
You simply need to add yourself as a contributor in Google+ (of your website URL). You can add your site as a link as well, but beyond this you don't need to worry about anything else.
Thanks Kyle, I've set my site up in the contributor section and I'll just add it in as a link too. Cheers
Sorry I'm just trying get through it like the back of my hand. I will send yon some links as soon as I find them.
You only add your website URL in the contributor section. When you create a new post go to your home page and share it with all your followers just like at Facebook.

I can't find anyway to add share buttons on my site so I probably need to ad a widget. Can anyone recommend one?
I like the one I use a lot. It's called Share Buttons by AddToAny. The reader can click on the one icon and a menu of a whole bevy of social networks pops up to choose from: Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest, Watsapp, and many more.
+1 Same here. I've been using it for years. I like that it's just a single share button that brings up a popup menu. Keeps the site looking cleaner and more professional.
I like it too, except when I try to share by clicking the Pinterest button, the screen just goes grey and freezes.
Hi David
I use média social feather and people CAN go to my Facebook, g+
You have to put a widget. You CAN go to my site: http://logicielefficace.com and to see.
I'm using Shareholic, here's a training vid I made :D The 'Sharing is Caring' Widget for Social Shares
So you'll want to add a plug-in. The best results I've gotten so far is from the plug-in named Tweet, Like, Plus, Share, I believe is what it's called. It does not slow down my site at all. I would recommend staying away from the plug-in called Simple Share Buttons. That one did slow my site down big time. Hope this helps!
I think its brilliant. Fair play to ya! It looks superb. Nice clean layout n you're really good at writing content. Your going to do really well with it. All the best

I was looking at my page speed overview on analytic's today. One of the problems popping up quite frequently is the size of my images. It recommended using compressed images instea
Hello Dave
There is a couple of plug ins that will do this for you.
The one I use is smush.it by Yahoo
It compresses all images on your site, and then automatically as you add new ones
It can be loaded directly from WP repository
Regards
Paul
JPGs rarely need to be saved with a quality higher than 75% (I do 85% just because I'm a photographer) but the lower the better, as long as you don't lose too much quality.
There's also a plugin I used called WP Smush It. It compresses media files as they're uploaded and then tells you how much it was able to compress the file - for example, "5%, 8kb".
Every little bit helps!
I'm not sure if Smush.it will work with WA hosting as it makes outbound requests. Unless someone contacted support and asked them to allow it.
I have it installed on some of my sites and even tho I compress before uploading, smush.it does help a little with the thumbnails and other image sizes wordpress creates.
Do you upload a lot of high res images?
Image compression can make a big difference to page speed, especially on mobile devices, and is even more important if the images are highly relevant to the post content (eg product images).
Compressing the images before uploading means the hard work is done before the page is loaded, rather than the end user downloading a massive file that has to be shrunk on their end.
I'm pretty sure you can tweak Wordpress to serve compressed images, rather than the uncompressed ones, but the exact method escapes me right now.
I'll have a look into it and get back to you.
I always compress images before uploading. If you search compress images in the WA search you'll find tutorials covering this. Tinypng.com is my fav along with photoshop.

I was just wondering if I refer someone to WA and they consequently sign up for Jaaxy, will I get the referral for Jaaxy?
If you have an account (not Free one) with Jaaxy, you'll automatic be an affiliate. If not, you need to join its affiliate program to get credit.
I have an affiliate link for Jaaxy. Just thought it might be linked somehow when I refer someone to WA :)
You have to be an affiliate with Jaxxy, so when someone signs up for it you get your referral. What Michelle said, is what I know about it.
That could be responded to by the owners of WA and those who have been here for a longer time, but we are also interested in the response so that we know.
Thank you.
You can check your stats by logging into your Jaaxy account and clicking the "Affiliate Program => Control Panel" link within the menu.
No, you have to be an affiliate with Jaaxy. Someone would have to click on your Jaaxy affiliate link for you to get credit for the referral.
