Affiliate marketing defined by Wikipeda is a type of perfromance-based marketing in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought by the affiliate's own marketing efforts. Simply put affiliate marketing is where a person promotes, markets and sells another companies merchandise or service for a commission or fee. In almost all instances the affiliate is using their own website to do the promoting.

To determine rather affiliate marketing is for you, you must understand the dynamics of what makes a affiliate marketer successful.

First you need a website. Most companies will check your website for content. This is done in part to protect their brand and to check the integrity of your web site.

Next is probably the most important element of them all, you are going to need a lot of traffic going to your web site. No traffic no sales. Today's traffic is generated in several ways blogs, pay per click and newsletters just to name a few. If you are new to affiliate marketing or selling on the internet is strongly advise that you take a good training program to get started.
