Getting Back On Track After a Stream of Non-Productivity
Hard to believe that it was August last year when I first joined WA. I went through the courses, then started 2 different sites that lead to nowhere, then along with some personal problems, I went into several months of non-productivities. What does that mean? That means I kept thinking about getting work done but never actually do any of the work. Life was hard and I was my worst enemy.
Still, while I did not have the energy to motivate myself to do anything, I also didn't exactly want to give up. I kept thinking that perhaps with my first 2 sites, I didn't settle on the right topics for me to write about. My first site was on fashion, but I am not a fashion guy; I want to be better at it but just don't have a real interest in it.
The second site was on teaching people to be do things better with their Apple product. I enjoy teach others in real life, but turns out taking screenshot was so much work that I decided that it wasn't write as a blogging topic in the end.
So I thought more deeply into what I could write about and then realize that in the past several years, the most obvious interest I have is traveling around Asia. I even have the photos to proof the interest and the legwork I have already put into this area. A more reliable idea is suddenly born.
Before I allowed myself to move forward abruptly, I created a challenge for myself. I created a goal of writing at least 10 posts before setting things up. Although it took longer than expected, but nonetheless it was done and so.
Fast forward to about a month ago, I finally got the nerve to get things going again so off I went to get a domain and prepare a brand new site. It might have been the discount WA offered for a yearly subscription that gave me the push. Guess I was thinking I either should get off WA or pay for it and put the effort in again.
My new site: packandgoasia.com has been running for about a month now and I still feel motivated to take care of it...that's a good sign! I still have a few obstacles to get through before this will work out permanently, for example:
Still have a hard time focusing on writing
Still do not have a regular routine of crunching out new posts
Still get writer's block on new post ideas
I am hoping that in the next month I will management these things better, then I can move ahead and figure out how to increase traffic and add posts to monetize and earn some income.
