How do you decide to follow on WA???
When I joined WA I had no idea the amount information that I would be learning and the resources that were available to me as a Premium member. The issue of "following" was a big difficult concept for me because in all the training I didn't see anything about why I would want to follow another member here on WA .... AND then I had a Aha Moment.
To follow someone on WA, for me anyway, is a choice to "tag" members here that I want to see what they are posting in the Top 10, classrooms or who have personal helped me with my learning via PM here on WA. When I see a member blogging and someone contributes something I find interesting and true this is what I do:
1. I LIKE and comment on their blog;
2. Go to their Profile and see when they joined, the blogs they have written so far, websites they choose to share in their Profile;
3. And if I like what I see about them (which so far I have liked every Profile I have chosen to view) I Follow them!!
So you see I make a conscience choice to follow them because they have something to offer me. I review my following of members monthly to see if I missed any information from any one of them and to see how they are doing. To date I have chosen 30 to follow and each one of them had something important to offer me. That is how I do my following here at WA.
Please be aware that you are "graded" if you will here at WA on the amount of people you have following you. I have not figured out if the member who has 3491 followers is any better than one of the 183 who are following me and don't actually care about the "grading" opportunity on the number of followers I have. What is important here at WA is I have figured out how to locate individual members I have liked their articles, tips or tricks and don't have to do a search and hope I find them on here. I would like to think this is how people come to follow me ..... but I am unsure of that aspect of things.
If I liked your information and follow you then you are considered a valueable member of my toolbox here at WA. If you chose to follow me I thank you and hope that you chose to follow me using the guidelines that I use to follow others? Just my opinion folks. Take care -

Your logic does explain the following equates tagging a member here has to do with blogs and informations somehow shown and revealed to us. It is learning for us all at the same time. Yes, I also follow people and many of them just like myself following me. It's fun to work as a network.
Two heads are better than one, right? No single member here knows everything and if they did, they may not know how to teach or explain it clearly enough for you to understand and follow. It makes sense to me to have a large following to both contribute to, if I feel I have something of value to add, and to learn from the "collective" wisdom of the WA community. Feel free to "delete" email notifications on topics you aren't interested in, its anonymous so you won't hurt anyone's feelings.

But we wouldn't cross the road if we saw someone in need of help and avoid them simply so we could go and get the help WE needed from someone on the other side would we?
we have to square the circle as the saying goes however in hunting down (joke) people who are struggling with what we know, and help them.
Equally, we all have emotions, and feelings of inadequacy, and crises of confidence- and at different times too- we have to reach out for one another and offer support and guidance in my view- to balance what we get from this place as a matter of routine. IMO.
