My Journey thus far

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for taking the time to read this post. I'm sure my story is not different from the many you've probably read before, but here goes;

I'll start at the beginning of my journey, which didn't actually start with the usual looking to make money online. Rather mine began in an office job, which I'm still currently at by the way. I work for a company that develops software, mainly for online games. So the internet and an online environment has always been something that I've been exposed to. And yes, dreaming of that ideal job working for a company that makes games is probably every IT geeks dream come true. Unfortunately however, I wasn't the 'test pilot' who got to try out the games. Nope, instead I'm the emotional punching bag that sits on the other side of a telephone, listening to whinging customers all day. So, definitely the 'dream job' turned nightmare version.

Anyways, to say I'm not particularly happy in my job in an understatement. Please don't get me wrong though. I'm extremely grateful and consider myself very blessed to have a job, when so many out there are not so fortunate. However, I just want to be doing something I'm passionate about, and customer care is regrettably not my idea of passion.

So anyways, slowly and surely, I start hearing of a certain colleague at my company, who's forever travelling and quite honestly, never at work. So the questions start simmering, and I begin to enquire around the office how is it that Bill is always on leave? And probably more importantly, how does he afford it? Well, it turns out that Bill 'owns' some websites and is making his extra cash from income generated from those websites. Golly gosh... my mind was officially blown. I mean how can someone own websites, and make money from them? That was the alarm bell going off for me.

So from that practical demonstration of someone actually earning an income online, my interests were peaked. It was still a few months after that encounter, but I eventually dodged all the scams, and wound up finding Wealthy Affiliate. And phew, I'm glad I did.

Unfortunately I'm not a fire-starter, and tend to progress slowly, but after nearly a year at WA, I'm edging my way to the finish line. Yes, there have been a few stops and starts, with the stops being a bit longer than I'd like. But I believe if you keep chipping at the mountain, one stone at time, eventually the diamond will shine through.

So for anyone reading this, thinking that it's a get rich scheme and an overnight money maker, sorry to disappoint, it's not. What it is however, is an education, with a very straightforward tutoring system and a ton of very helpful and friendly folks, just a few clicks of the keyboard away to offer assistance.
