Chitralekha is an effort to introduce and connect people with tribal and traditional folk drawing art forms through workshops.
Any civilization of the world makes its presence felt prominently through its art and culture. The role of drawing art forms in the culture of any region in this world is closely related and influenced by its history. The Indian sub continent is known for its diverse, rich cultural and traditional heritage as it has been home to one of the oldest civilizations in the world. Cultures and traditionas are displayed through various art forms prevalent in different states. Diversity of traditions makes our culture very unique. India portrays cultural and traditional vibrancy through its regional tribal arts and crafts.
Every region in India has its own unique traditional tribal art forms. These art forms have philosophy attached to them, pattern appears simple but end result is intricate art work, painting themes usually are depictions of incidents of some divine significance from Indian mythology. The canvas of our tribal and folk art forms is vast.
