Sometimes it's what we need!
What do I really need? Yes, I need money, but not more than I need my health and the humble shelter over my head. I want more money, that's why I'm here, right? I'm striving to learn all I can so that I can build a way to make a better life for us. Have some independence (from bills & my husband's job) and peace.
"Sometimes God gives us what we need and not what we ask for", says Pastor Fred in his book "From The Pastor's Desk". At his blog these days, Pastor Fred is sharing excerpts from his books that have been released over the past few years. The books are really honest, eye opening, insightful, refreshing and most of the time very humbling. Keeps me "in check" and I wanted to share this wealth of my "cup overflowing" today with you. When I say I want more money I guess what I really need is more peace- of mind, in my work, in my house, in my finances, in my life. I've been given that today and continue to strive for that on a daily basis. I have not received any money today, just to be clear. :)
Pastor Fred is also my Father-in-law. He's someone that I look up to, respect and am so proud of for stepping out in faith and not only writing these books that God has laid on his heart for all these years but published them! He has put them out there for all to read and benefit from. God has spoken through him in a mighty way and I just hope that many people are able to come to know God, be enlightened and refreshed through what God has spoken into his heart to share with you. I appreciate his obedience to God in listening and writing and waiting. I learn a lot through observation in my life. Of people, society and God. God did not promise wealth in money. He promised everlasting wealth of his love- Jesus' love and eternal life.
I know most of us here would like to make some money! Right? So does Pastor Fred but more importantly he is trying to help be a pathway to lead people God's kingdom. He has a purpose and is fulfilling it. That is what we really need. To find that niche and fill the need. Right?? We don't always get what we want but what we get is sometimes just what we need! (And then the light bulb goes off!) Love you Pastor Fred! You can read more of his excerpts and be encouraged at http://initforlifeministries.blogspot.com/.
So, remember that sometimes in this journey that we're all on together, what you're getting may not seem like what you want at the time but may be exactly what you need!!
Hope you have a wonderful day!!

Not always getting what you want is many times a blessing that we don't realize until much later. ~Debbi

Super job. We all learn this at one time or another, I suppose. Wasn't it Garth Brooks who wrote a song about just this? So it's a good thing we are not fully in charge of our lives or we might completely make a mess of things...hee hee.
So true!
