Top Three Rules for Success

Hi! I wanted to share a snippet of what I believe to be three very important things to secure success in this life.

Rule #1 - discover your purpose:

Discovering your purpose is listed as my number 1 rule for success. It is the best place to start your journey to success because as the late Dr. Myles Munroe stated quite nicely, “you can be successful in the wrong assignment”. In other words, you may be investing your time doing something only for some $$$, and not because you love or enjoy doing it or because you feel a burning desire to bring change where there is an existing problem. This can be a clear indication that your working on the wrong assignment. Don't chase after money; chase after the right assignment and money will follow you. So the first rule for success is to find your gift or your “calling”. Your gift is the thing you do your absolute best in, with the least amount of effort. Your calling is that thing you were born to change.

Rule #2 - Have a vision

After you discover what you should spend the rest of your life doing, it should be followed by vision. One of the most important things you must do to ensure success is to establish a vision. For entrepreneurs, a vision is simply a clear mental picture or a clear idea of what you want your business become when it’s at its peak. It’s the blueprint of what your business will finally become when it matures. Write the vision down! Write it down in the form of a vision statement which will operate as the navigator of your business. Create a vision statement; a one liner/ single sentence that captures the big picture with precision. Work at it until you’ve achieved that.

Rule #3 - Have passion

When you have a vision that stems from your discovery of what you should spend the rest of your life doing or pursuing, it is usually accompanied by passion. Passion is conceived or given birth from the unconditional love for what you do. It is that drive or emotional charge that keeps your dream alive. Passion is the “reason” that keeps you going even on the days you feel like giving up. What is the ultimate reason why you want to make your vision a reality? Find that “big enough” reason and write it down. According to Steve Jobs “You have to have passion for what you’re doing, because it’s so hard any rational person would give up. It’s really hard and you have to do it over a sustained period of time. If you don’t love what you do; if you’re not having fun with it; if you don’t really love it, you’re going to give up.” Whenever your mind introduces you to the idea of giving up, passion kicks in and reminds you of your reason for doing what you do; it keeps you going.
