Jay's HOT SEAT - My Experience And Gratitude to Wealthy Affiliate Members

Yes, I had an experience on Jay's HOT SEAT last Friday April 13, 2018. When I submitted my site, I did not think I had any chance of being chosen for the review but as fate had it, I was. I found the training really beneficial, if you haven't watched it please do watch the replay. You learn a ton, especially for those of us who are still newbs in affiliate marketing.

So, I had been really worried about the theme I am using and the general design of my website. My hubby keeps telling me that he likes it, but I usually take complements from close family with a pinch of salt. I mean they wouldn't want to hurt you so they may water down their feedback so that you don't feel bad. That said, I was overly worried about my site despite his assurances.

You can imagine I expected a lot of criticism (not in a bad way) from the guru himself. To my surprise, he actually liked my site design. Phew! Justa few minutes review and a few comments here and there gave me a whole lot of confidence in working on my site.

Some of My Takeaways

1. Slow down on the number of affiliate links per page.

I had way too many affiliate links on one page (like 60, haha) You can check out the post here if you are curious :) If you are like me with a super long list and 3 affiliate links for each item on the list, you may want to slow down on the affiliate links for your post to be indexed on Google. After making the changes my post was finally indexed on Google. Win!

2.Start using a table of contents for super long posts.

I installed a plugin called Easy Table of Contents and it worked quite well. It took me a couple of hours and a number of YouTube videos before I finally figured out how to use it though. (Maybe I should do a Tutorial about it here sometime.)

3. Wealthy Affiliate is full of awesome people and I am so grateful

The guys who were live on the training flocked my site and showed me some love. I think that was the highest number of visitors I've had on my site in a while. So to everyone who shared my post, left me a comment and gave me awesome feedback, I just want to say THANK YOU! In Kenya we say, "ASANTE SANA!".

As a result, I made my first affiliate sale on that Friday. It was just 46 US cts but hey, at least I can see the system works. I am motivated to keep working on my site and stay positive. I know a lot more is coming.

IN CONCLUSION

Wealthy Affiliate rocks! I have had my doubts about being here sometimes. I have had discouraging days and felt overwhelmed sometimes but this community keeps me going. The support over here is unmatched elsewhere and the training! I am yet to even scratch the surface.

So to everyone who has felt like giving up at some point ,there is light at the end of the tunnel. Keep working at it and eventually we will see some results.
